    0 % chance it's fixed.
It's not broken to them it's exactly how they want it, that's sad but true.

        Re: Must Watch Video—Player Differentiation

What happens if you change the ratings of a player to all 0, or whatever the lowest you can?

I'd be interested to see the difference between Crosby and a skater with 0 speed, acceleration, agility, etc.

Good stuff either way, the system is obviously broken. It's just too bad they don't appear to give a single fk.

Let's hope this video doesn't spoil the thread's rating...

          A couple things to note:

          1) The dislike is from BaconCountry, whom you may remember as the second half of videos I posted, rebutting the OP vid and follow up.

          2) Watch closely around 1:01. (I'm obviously a new commentator, so I need to work on my commentating.) There's a moment where both Gaborik and Muzzin stop and then restart, with Gaborik going where Muzzin should and vice versa. That's a big part of the mistake.

          3) Absolutely. As I stated, the best position for the defensemen would have been in the slot and for Doughty, further toward the goal line and between puck carrier and net. However, that's not what happened, so the user definitely deserves blame. I think Gaborik should have at least turned—not necessarily picking up the puck, don't get me wrong—but he didn't. I think Vision Control will go some way toward remedying that problem.

Thanks for watching. Let me know your feedback.

A perfect example of what I call the Flying Controller AI. Nothing gets me wanting to throw my controlled out the window quite like seeing 2 guys from my team (Mind you, Doughty was busy crushing someone without the puck, just to make skating completely out of the play worse. Also, ignoring the awful pivoting we have to deal with when hanging directions in game) standing still in the center of the ice, 100% oblivious to the world around them. Even if Gaborik was a defender, the outcome would have pretty much been the same. The off-puck AI in the series hasn't improved much at all. They don't chase loose pucks well, they don't position themselves well on defense, or offense for that matter. The game just seems to try and maintain a constant distance from the player, before parking and waiting for the player to take the puck someplace else, where they then position themselves and stop doing anything. There's no defensive plays, no offensive plays, no real awareness at all. And most annoying, is that creating a play is harder than it should be (the routes being skated is cook, but not being able to tell a player to stop at a certain point, or perform an action leads to blindly skating into walls and goalies).

I've mentioned it before, but the ability to create plays on defense and offense, where players react a certain way would be awesome. Imagine setting up a powerplay formation, where your best left handed winger is at the blue line waiting for a faceoff, and you can set him there, and know he will be there. Then, you could set your large winger to skate from the wall, through the defense, and into the crease, where he would initiate a sort of "Screen" waypoint, that would tell the AI to try and maintain position close to the goalie, while staying between the shooter and the goalie. This would also increase the chances that the screening player tried to deflect a good shot, or stay still and just lift a leg to leg the puck through. This could all be going on while you have your other winger move to the opposite faceoff dot and wait for a one timer (again, maintaining an open passing lane with the puck carrier) and your center retreating to a position behind the net to get passed out front. It would make the game so much better.

In the Xbox 360/PS3 version of NHL 15, Gaborik probably would have tied up Hagelin in front of the net and taken him out of the play using the old "tractor beam" tie up animation. You can't shoot when you are tied up on old-gen NHL 15.

But EA took those tie up animations out of the game on Xbox One/PS4, so you get a lot of situations like that where a defender will be in pretty good position to take an offensive player out of the play, but instead, the defender just stands there and does nothing.

Hopefully, EA brings tie ups back for NHL 16, and they don't have as much "suction" power as they did on the old-gen consoles. EA already confirmed that "hold the line" animations are coming back to help keep the AI onside during rushes. That was another set of animations that EA took out of the game in the move to Xbox One/PS4.

I was so excited for the battles in front of the net, until i realized that I couldn't control them from either side of the puck. On defense I was forced to hump the nearest player, and on offense I couldn't skate past a guy for a loose puck without getting velcro'd to his waist. It was absurd.

I stopped watching half way through because I couldn't take it anymore. This is the biggest problem with the series.

Honestly, why is John Scott even within 8 points of Crosby's skating ability?
His skating should be 50 not 82!

In the cancelled NHL 15 Revamped Rosters I was working on, I believe I had John Scott at about a 68 speed and 66 acceleration. Crosby was something like a 90 speed and 92 acceleration. The fastest player in the game would have been Grabner with a 99 speed and 99 acceleration.

That separation is what I'm looking for in EA's rosters since we probably won't be able to edit rosters. It's never going to happen though.
