Re: How's your Franchise Mode Going?
I've become addicted as the season draws to a close. My Leafs are 3 points behind Florida and 2 points ahead of third place Montreal. I've played every game, I feel I'm at the top of my game going into that couple of weeks. There's a part of me though that hopes to finish second or third to get a playoff series against Montreal.

Re: How's your Franchise Mode Going?
Just bought the game for $20 yesterday. Not a big NHL guy but enjoy playing with friends and just playing around. I want to start a franchise mode but have no clue who to even use. I like to rebuild or pick a team that could have a chance to be the last seed to make the playoffs. Could some of you guys help me out and give me some teams for example? I'd like to get started tonight!
Thanks in advance.Comment

Re: How's your Franchise Mode Going?
Ideally, yes you would do that. But in real life, these players are on LTIR and their cap hit basically comes off the books (the teams get to spend up to the current cap + the salary of any LTIR players, basically removing their cap hit), so you have to put them in free agency otherwise you'll cripple teams because they don't get the "cap relief" of LTIR in the game. With that said, I'd be really happy if they added it in for next year."To whom much is given, much is expected" - John F. KennedyComment

Re: How's your Franchise Mode Going?
Game 3 was a great game, 2-2 tie then we go into OT and once again 3 on 3 for 5 mins
I did figure out how to change it, go into global settings outside of your franchise and change to continuous OT. Played Game 3 again, 1-1 into OT and lost 2-1, we now only have a 2-1 game lead in the first series vs Minnesota.
Remember to change it back to 3v3, then shootout after playoffs are over (if you have this issue).Comment

It's incredibly frustrating that they don't do that by default. It's just like the Make a Wish kids they put in the game as free agents at 99 overall.Comment

Re: How's your Franchise Mode Going?
I set up a franchise with tampa. I noticed to keep settings in franchise, I just scroll through presets until I go back to saved custom ones, and fixes settings correctly. do it before every game.

Re: How's your Franchise Mode Going?
Going to a Game 7 vs the Wild. Both teams are 0-3 at home and 3-0 on the road. I'm hoping that helps us with a 4th game on the road, but this has been a crazy series so we shall see which Jake Allen shows up for us as Dubnyk has been the better goalie overall.
Either we win and hop a flight to Nashville or we lose and hang up the skates for the season.Comment

Re: How's your Franchise Mode Going?
We lose Game 7, 3-2 late in the third period. Tampa Bay had won the Stanley Cup, but the game froze. Simmed the rest again and Nashville won the Stanley Cup and Jagr retires after winning his third cup (I believe?).
Shattenkirk held out to the final end and signed a 4 year deal with Montreal.
My owner wanted us to upgrade at goalie and Tampa Bay had Andrei Vasilevskiy on the trade block, so we sent Jake Allen and our 2018 1st round pick to Tampa Bay for Vasilevskiy and their 2018 4th round pick.
We are a younger team this year, but still have our core intact. Smaltz will move to the big club to fill the empty D spot.
Allen is tearing it up in RL, but let in too many softies this season for us and had a horrible save %.Comment

Re: How's your Franchise Mode Going?
Disgruntled Employee - San Jose Sharks GM Mode
After the latest roster update, I decided to do another GM Mode with the San Jose Sharks. The only change I made in year one was to sign Chris Higgins and Dainius Zubrus for depth (mainly so the rookies got more time playing in the AHL). Well we made it all the way to the finals and beat Tampa Bay in game 5 for the cup. Brent Burns won both the Norris and Conn Smythe.
Right before the draft, Joe Thornton and Dainius Zubrus retire. I have an ok draft, and resign all the players I need to. Going into year two, I have about 5M in cap space (I was able to resign Patrick Marleau for one year at 5M, Melker Karlsson did not want what I was offering, so he left). At this point everyone seems happy, I sign some players to boost my AHL squad (honest minor league players). I sim to the start of the season (past the pre-season). Assign players to their respective leagues, and all of a sudden, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Brenden Dillion and Joel Ward are pissed. Dudes! We just won the CUP! You should still be on a high!
I trade Vlasic to Arizona for Oliver Ekman-Larsson (they wanted to get rid of him, he was apparently disgruntled there) and Dillion for Luke Schenn (again, same deal, he was disgruntled as well). I had to add in a draft pick for it to go though. Arizona ended up dead last in season one, and had the first and second overall picks in the draft. They took Nolan Patrick and Maxime Comtois 1st and 2nd respectively.
Vlasic and Dillion would rather be moved from the best team in the NHL to the worst! Maybe they missed Thornton? I know Dillion was listed as a top 4 defenseman, and I was playing him on the bottom line. I was playing Vlasic with Burns on the top line (speaking of Burns, he jumped up to a 94 overall). Maybe they were unhappy that Melker did not re-sign. I cannot remember what I did with Ward. ;-)
After simulating the first month of season two, I checked in with Vlasic and Dillion. Vlasic went from a disgruntled 85 overall to a happy 91, Dillion went from a disgruntled 81 to a happy 84 (where he was when I started). Ekman-Larsson is sitting at a 90 and Schenn is an 83. Arizona is still losing more than they are winning (last in the pacific) while the Sharks are 1 point behind Edmonton. Go figure!Last edited by Orrad; 04-04-2017, 02:40 PM.Comment

Re: How's your Franchise Mode Going?
Hey guys, could anyone help me? I SIMULATE Franchise mode mostly. I might jump in and play the 3rd period like 5-8 times a season. I mostly sim it all.
Messing witht he sliders doesn't change the simulation does it? I maxed out some sliders and messed aroudn and the scoring is still normal.
I kinda wanted to tinker with it a little bit but the sliders only affect "actual gameplay" from what I can tell.
Am I missing something here? Or is this accurate? Sliders only affect if you actually play the games?
