Something with default superstar really clicks and your teammates actually defend and the AI doesn’t just spam the slot the whole game.

Have had a handful of great games now since going default, including a 32 save 2-0 shutout against Montreal and then a 3-2 loss to VGK but I stopped 42 shots including standing on my head during a 5 on 3 PK kill to keep the game within one in the third period.

Even the most mundane slider change completely flips the game and how the AI plays on its head so I’m going to steer clear of sliders and just take what default gives me.
      This x's infinity.

As much as I want to play with my usual sliders, something about a default (or close to) set up that has the AI play much better and always has me coming back to it.

Whole thing had me so confused, I’d change one thing and something completely unrelated would start happening. Had to throw the whole thing out the window.

Just kidding, I retract all my impressions. This game is predetermined nonsense. Grudge matches are impossible as you’re basically guaranteed a 6-5 shootout. Tough bounces everywhere, teammate AI is an absolute train wreck. Up 3-1 headed in the third? Good luck stopping wrist shots. Opposing player just sitting back door? Why would anyone put a body on him, crazy thought.

Ability track is bugged, can’t even gain any “xfactors” that will help. Sliders? Ha, that’s funny. Change the game speed and the team’s stop hitting, make that make sense. This game is a mess. I really tried.

          I’m headed back to 24.

All the fluff has done more harm than good in Franchise mode IMO. Need to be able to turn everything off!

I had enough of this a few days ago and went back to my MLB The Show 24 Franchise.

They’ve layered on so many variables and nonsense that the base of the game completely suffers. I’m a casual hockey fan, there’s just too much going on here under the hood. Maybe they’ll get this beta figured out by February.

Is there any way to get puck cycling in offensive zone? I only play cpu vs cpu and no matter what slider set I use or roster in use… the player just skates up the ice and shoots.

One thing you can try is try shot accuracy at 0. This was one of those myths that if at 0 they will cycle more. I recently went to shot acc at 0 for my sliders and I feel like they cycle more, but it might just be random. Worth a shot!

Also, another myth was pass acc at 0 would have the CPU shoot more.

But give the shot acc at 0 a try and see if you notice any difference.

I watched a couple of PernellKarl076's NHL 23 vids on youtube last night and...I don't know guys. Is this skating engine really moving in the right direction? The animations in 23 looked buttery smooth. All movements branching seamlessly from one to another. The skating looks so much more natural, it's something with the way the legs move I think. Even the passing animations, to me, look more natural and smooth. They're receiving passes in stride and it looks like a seamless animation that doesn't interrupt the skating.

The stick looks like a natural part of the player model instead of some giant accessory tacked on in 25. Deking looks so much better, faster, smoother. The players were turning without doing that ridiculous weight shifting animation every five seconds. They can skate up the ice without shifting all their weight. They can turn around in front of the net after receiving a pass without shifting all their weight, or spin deking to help themselves turn.

The player models, honestly, looked more realistic to me than what we have in 25. The collisions looked better, like the scrums and incidental contact looked way more natural and fluid. The models seem like they were better at interacting with each other than what we have now.

Seriously, watch his 25 video and then some of the 23 and tell me it looks better now. I can't.

I am kinda happy with my sliders now, but there is two issues regarding about shooting.

                      1) its too easy score onetimer goals with D-men, specially if player shooting accuracy are over 80.

I guess onetimer accuracy or slap shot accuracy slider doesn't really affect. So maybe there is nothing to fix it. If there is good screen front of goalie its fine and looks good, but most of time its without screen and just feels to easy.

                      2) Most CPU goals when shooting wrist shot hits my goalie and still goes in the net.

It doesn't look right. It should be save or straight to net. I dont mind if shot sometimes leaks from armpit, body or jersey. But when it hits glove or blocker and still goes in, thats bad.
                      ...
I am using maxed difficulty on Superstar, AI learning and CPU difficulty slider.

For 1, im still working on it but a lot is tied to the new perfect one-timer feature. I’m tinkering with the goalie sliders to see if that helps but haven’t had too much time to test anything out.

For 2, I get a few of those as well, but I noticed lowering the attribute effect to 5 helped. When I had it at 10, I was getting a decent amount on both sides that would hit the goalie and then go in, almost like a deflection. At 5 it seems a bunch more go in. I personally don’t mind because unlike previous years when they either wouldn’t go in at all or trickle in, they at least go in at speed and barely hit the goalies. Still can be worked on though.
