Wanted to mention that I talked to the NHL developers last week. Doesn't look like there is a "broadcast" camera in the game this year -- some seemed to think there was one. According to devs, it's essentially the same cameras as last year.

Brutal... so much for being "authentic to the game". Some of the decisions they have made (lack of presentation after 3 years of asking for it, for example) makes me wonder how much they actually know or care about the game.

I begged and pleaded for them to tweak the goalie camera and add more options for goalie cameras, so I feel your pain in a different way. Not having a "broadcast" camera doesn't really pain me in the same way.

I know I'm in the minority when it comes to playing with the broadcast view. I understand it may not be the most wanted feature added to the game, but it is a simple one. I figured it wouldn't be a huge issue to fix, but I may be wrong. Maybe there is a reason that they can't tweak it. Perhaps it creates other problems.

Anyhow, I am still frustrated. 2K10 will probably get more playing time than NHL 12 will - offline at least.

Yeah I could never play from that view, but I've heard of people even trying to play from a TV broadcast view in like football games -- and I think that's a way more crazy proposition.

I recall seeing a few Madden videos being played (or perhaps CPU vs CPU) in broadcast view, and I've got to say it looks very impressive. Look at the NBA 2K series. That game looks identical to a real life broadcast. Boggles my mind a little that the NHL series hasn't followed suit.

It's understandable to play a basketball game from that view -- same can't really be said from a conceptual standpoint when it comes to other TV-style angles.
