Re: The NHL 12 Info Thread

Now that the Demo is out will there be anymore anouncements ? Will we be getting the online communities like Madden? So at least we can have custom sliders when we play our friends online. I need something else to push me towards a buy. The little tweeks are nice but goalie fights and a sim engine just doesn't do it for me. Have there been any changes or updates to the online league feature (not hut) ? I don't play the CPU much and I hate playing randoms! I play against my friends online, what's new for us ? So what's the deal anything left to announce ? Luger, huh... A yes or no will do.

You'll love NHL 12. I must say, try out the Online Team Play and EASHL once you get the hang of it.

Re: The NHL 12 Info Thread

Stumbled across a compilation of developer quotes from the EA Forums at the Penguins SB Nation blog:

          NHL12 Information from EA Developers

It's almost exclusively EASHL/OTP related info, complete with links to the appropriate posts. I can't view the EA forums at work, but even what he has at Pensburgh is worth a read.

The most surprising item to me:

Just an FYI to get to Legend 3 level this year, you will need to play 350 games and have 200 wins, and have an A- . This was done to add more depth to the game. Many players are usually able to get to the 150 game mark within the first few months, this just adds a little more incentive to play the game for a longer period. Also Legend 1 is at 150 games, so there are an extra 200 games needed to earn an extra 340 XP. 340 isn't a lot of XP given that the cost of attributes go up as you add to them, so it shouldn’t be too much of an advantage.
Sadly, I'm fairly certain I only reached 350 games very recently. 340 XP isn't a lot to go without, but I suspect many will be disappointed by this.

Does anyone know if players will be able to gain and lose traits throughout their career?

I hope so, it would be cool in BeAGM if you can train guys during the offseason to nudge them towards picking up offensive or defensive traits.

I was reading the posts by EA_HLT (EA Hockey Live Team, a bunch of NHL dev teamers) over at the EA Forums when I stumbled upon something we wondered about a month or two ago:

Originally posted by EA_HLT @ EA Forums

I think we assumed this meant separate online/offline tuning updates, but it sounds like this is something they added to improve post-launch support of BAGM/BAP. While separate tuning of online/offline play could help, being able to tinker with the guts of the offline game modes without a patch might be even better.

Sorry I'm not linking directly, but I was reading on my phone and can't access EA sites at work. Yes, I'm too cheap and/or stubborn to buy Tapatalk.

If you're not a hardcore fan, maybe get NHL11 next week since price will drop(and it might be 1/3 the price of nhl12). I'm doing that for Madden since I'm not really a NFL fan.

Yes, go ahead buy NHL 12. It may not a huge improvement over 11, but it's still an improvement. If for no other reason, the new sim engine.
