    Re: 2KHS v0.8 (June 5 2020)

It depends what the AR code can do. I don't know how/if it can trigger something outside of the game which is why I suggested if it is possible to make the AR code change something on the screen I can detect.

@djneo I just had an idea that might work. The game writes to files at certain points in the game. For example when saving settings or saving a save file or a replay. If you can make the game do that (save a certain file on disk) with an AR code when the sound should be played I think I should be able to detect it and play a sound. That could be a possible hook other than changing something on the screen.

I'll think about it, but have to shift focus on gameplay. Gotta learn the A.I. shoot some hockey goals Also make the shooting more challenging/rewarding for people behind the controller.

They obviously tuned the game for kids by default with lot.of aid and helps and "holding hands", so now when the game is physics based it's time to make the ai to step up accordingly.

Yeah and also the lite version is shaping up nicely.

            Re: 2KHS v0.8 (June 5 2020)

The solution for me was to let the CPU do my aiming aswell with auto aim. Then I have no upper hand on being smarter with the aiming and always shooting high. Works as a work around for now for me.

Haven't had the time to do much for a couple of weeks due to work but I'd love to get in a hook somewhere to be able to play sounds. If we can find out a way that I can detect what happens ingame from outside that'd be great! As I said I can already detect images on screen quite easily (at certain resolutions though).

              Re: 2KHS v0.8 (June 5 2020)

Am I missing something? Goalies don't seem capable of grabbing rebounds at all. Like my goalie has a loose puck in front of him, keeps trying to cover, can't cover it and the puck just sits there until someone on the other team grabs it and scores.

On the boards the play is laughable. Everyone bounces like rubber and the puck gets stuck for like 10 seconds until mercifully someone gets the puck out.

My goalie also likes to flop on regular shots like crazy sprawl save for a regular shot from the faceoff circle.

The puck also seems to rubber band to the AI. Like no matter the bounce, the puck finds its way over to the AI.

Is this how 2KHS plays or am I missing some sliders or something?

A lot of this has been discussed. I don't feel it is as bad as you describe though.
You need to change a couple of settings in my opinion. One is you need to use auto aim. Second is goalie freeze frequency something like that it will make the goalies be better at freezing and holding pucks.

The board play is due to you having to be careful not to run the actual puck into the boards. When you do it will bounce and you loose control. This gives much more board play which I atleast think is pretty realistic aslong as you figure out this mechanic. You can use the backwards skate button to get an edge on the CPU at the boards, I don't any more though as I find I can win too many battles that way. Try the tackle button at the boards to win the puck. The rubber band you talk about is something I've never noticed. I normally think I have the edge.

You can play a lot with pass accuracy sliders and more.

This is very helpful insight. I'll try adjusting the settings to see if this helps. Any recommendations for settings and sliders?

I used the default settings so I'll up cover frequency. I hope that resolves the issue because it's so weird having a loose puck in front of the goalie, the goalie actively trying to cover... and just failing because they can't seem to get the puck under their glove.

The board play will take some getting used to. It's just odd to see players all madly trying to get the puck when it sits against the boards and constantly lose it (myself and the AI). Note I am not skating toward the boards when this happens. The puck is loose along the boards and I can't retrieve it no matter my angle of picking it up.

The rubber band is perhaps the most annoying one. It seems like loose pucks go to the AI all the time. Whether I lose it because of a poke, blocked shot, rebound or any other situation (on offense or defense) the puck 9 times out of 10 will go to the AI.

Update: I lowered rebounds which seemed to help but I can't find a goalie cover frequency slider. Still getting some garbage goals because the puck is stationary in the crease and the goalie can't get their trapper on it.

I managed to stop my goalie from flopping on regular shots by changing his style from butterfly to positional.

Board play is a bit better too but it's something I'll have to get used to.

Now I'm noticing that a player rated as 99 in speed and acceleration is the same speed as a player who has 70 speed. Appears to be little advantage in being fast. This is especially noticeable because having an AI player remotely close to me causes the puck to be lost. No poke check, no stick lift, no contact. The puck handling just appears to be terrible.

Yeah I think you need to get used to it. I also thought it was weird at first, then I watched some games and realized how much fumbling there is in real hockey. I was just not used to it because I was used to "normal" video game hockey. It can be really frustrating at times when you feel you managed to make an awesome play and it is ruined by a bounce but that's pretty much like real hockey. You can still use the sliders to tune the game.
And scoring an awesome play is extremely rewarding on this game in my opinion. A highlight reel goal is exactly just that. They don't happen every game. I even end up having to replay goals scored by the AI at times due to them being awesome.

And with that said, some are stupid since the goalies decide to spin on the puck until the opponent just pokes it in. It's not perfect but it's pretty damn awesome at times.

I don't agree that speed does not matter.
The reason you loose the puck easily is due to the increased hit detection. You should have tried the previous 0.7 version... The detection was too sensitive at the boards and the puck got stuck too much. The last version has it tuned much better and even though it definitely is not perfect it actually creates more board play just like real life.

I think you can tune puck or ice friction or player speed sliders to make the players get the puck from the boards more easily, that was what I did on 0.7 version.

It wasn't frequency. It was puck freeze time in the rules section. Set it to 0. That way when a goalkeeper goes into spin-o-rama-mode he won't spin five times before the puck is frozen. It's normally frozen before he starts spinning.
So Rules:Goalie puck freeze time and rebounds helps with the goalies.

                                Re: 2KHS v0.8 (June 5 2020)

Been playing franchise a lot now and there are some things that really frustrates me.

                                1. If you manage to make competitive sliders the camera cuts make the broadcast view unplayable. I've let in so many goals or missed important high quality chances due to the game switching the camera and controls. It BREAKS THE GAME! It works if you dominate the game and don't bother when this happens but if it is a close competitive game this becomes a great annoyance. I think the camera cuts are unnecessary anyway since the flat crowd look crap and closeups of it should have been avoided.

                                2. Defenders are too aggressive when the goalie can't cover the puck. They hurry and run into him and score many own goals.

                                3. The puck control of players receiving passes... It's just too random. I can understand players loosing control while under pressure but I can pass a puck to the blade of a player that's basically standing still and he manages to miss it or it bounces off him like he was a ten year old.

                                4. Players loose assists all the time. They should get assists on rebounds and there should be second assists even though the puck bounced off a leg. It ruins statistics in franchise when your team has half the assists of the other teams.

I've managed to tweak sliders to limit easy goals and make the game competitive so that's really nice. Just wish I could play in broadcast view and that puck control would be a little better to limit the amount of "stupid" situations.
