Re: The Official 2010-11 Regular Season Talk Thread
They were rolling tonight. It was a great game and missing Sid is huge. Price was a beast tonight. A fun game tonight.Pens are destroying Tampa. 8-1 right now, and Sid has 1 assist. Goligoski has 4 points, Letang has 3 assists. Pens look really good from top to bottom. No team wants to see them in the playoffs for a seven game series. #1 in the east, and we didn't have Staal until the Classic! Had #1 PK in the NHL without him too, and he was the runner up to Datsyuk for Selke award. Fleury is standing on his head. Crosby is destroying the NHL and Malkin is starting to heat up.Comment

Sid out a week with concussion:
Good job NHL. I know Caps fans will disagree but Steckel's hit was dirty. I've played hockey and anyone who has knows that the "incidental contact" he provided was intentional. NHLers are great at masking dirty plays and make them look clean or accidental.
Several Flyers from the Bullies era said that Bobby Clarke was a master at pretending to be knocked down and accidentally whack the opposing player over the head with it. But he was so good at making it look like he was simply falling down and lost control of the stick, he never got called on it.
This happens all the time in the NHL.
And now because Colin Campbell is a giant moron devoid of testicles, the leagues best player will be lost for a week. And who knows how long the lingering affects will be?
Campbell is the greatest cancer in the sport of hockey. His punishments lack any sort of consistency and seem to be based on what mood he was in that day.
Mike Cammeleri takes a two-hander to rookie Nino Neiderreiter during preseason and gets a 1-game suspension.
Sean Avery, a repeat offender, does the same thing TWICE to Mike Komisarik only a couple of weeks later and gets absolutely nothing. How? Why?
This is why I won't be surprised in a year or two if half of the leagues superstars are fighting off concussions or on the IR themselves.
Who's next? Ovie? Stamkos? Datsyuk?
I have no faith in this league whatsoever. It's run by a bunch of morons as proven by the fact that they have Colin Campbell, the Matt Millen of hocke,y running it's Operations.Comment

During the game it looked like incidental contact but seeing it in the 24/7 episode, it looked like he did stick his shoulder out at him... He wasn't skating that fast though so I am surprised by the results of the hit.Sid out a week with concussion:

Re: The Official 2010-11 Regular Season Talk Thread
Dan Bylsma is saying it wasn't due to the Steckel hit and most likely because of the hit he took from Hedman the other night.
But I don't know if that's true. Lots of times, a full concussion comes off from being hit previously.
CBC's Elliot Freidman said that you could tell Sid was still rattled in the 3rd period of the Winter Classic. He described Sid as someone who doesn't miss anything out there. When the Caps got called for a penalty and Fluery headed to the bench for an extra-attacker, Sid didn't notice and didn't jump over the boards immediately. He felt this was a sign that Sid was still shaking out the cobwebs.
So who's to say that Hedman's hit didn't complete what Steckel started.
How many clean hits have we seen on Crosby? Ones where he's caught with his head down, or in a vulnerable position? And suddenly he's hit twice like that, back-to-back?
Regardless of what Bylsma says, I believe Steckel's hit set the foundation for what Sid's going through now. And the NHL has nobody else but themselves to blame for this.Last edited by Money99; 01-07-2011, 08:10 AM.Comment

Friend of mine just gave me a ticket (in a 18 person Suite) for the Caps/Bolts game here in Tampa next week. Never sat in a suite so it should be cool.
Only downside, I can't wear my Caps jersey. As a plus, I am a huge Bucs football fan and there may be a few players in the Suite.Comment

That is cool. Been there before with not being able to root for my team, because I was in the owners' section. It is weird to be sitting and talking to the owners and trying to act like you are rooting for their team, when deep down inside you are rooting for the other team.Friend of mine just gave me a ticket (in a 18 person Suite) for the Caps/Bolts game here in Tampa next week. Eager totally sucker punched Armstrong tonight. Total bitch move and will more than likely be suspended. Toronto proceeded to score 4 goals on the penalty and beat Atlanta 9-3. Serves him right.

Hawks beat the Sens in a shootout. The Hawks gave up a PP goal as usual as their penalty kill has been horrendous all year. They took the lead 2-1 on a Kane goal and ended up giving up the game tying goal with a minute and change left. I'm just glad they got the 2 points."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." Ooh, the rare 10-minute match penalty! I've been watching hockey for 30 years, and I doubt I've seen a dozen of those. Also, I notice that there were three goalie changes - Pavelec got yanked twice, Mason once. Kinda wish I'd watched this game; sounds like an Iron Mike special.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. What a dick. It's too bad the linesman got in the way to protect him because Phaneuf was going to lay his *** out full speed.Ooh, the rare 10-minute match penalty! Wild are on a nice little stretch, 7-2-1 in their last 10. And thanks to the silly point system, they're only 3 points back of 4th place in the West even though they're currently in 11th.
EDIT: Just noticed I quoted the wrong post. Don't feel like fixing it.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 01-08-2011, 01:09 PM.Comment
