This Caps-Hawks game has been really fun to watch.

Definitely agree. I love teams that push the pace which makes these two really exciting to watch. Both teams are flying all over the ice."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Damn I felt that goal coming by Washington. I'm just glad the Hawks tied it up to force OT. Great game.
There's no rest as the Sharks come into town tomorrow."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

I feel the same way. They should send a tape of the state semifinal just played between Duluth East and Edina to Bettman and every NHL team to remind them what real hockey looks like. Pretty sad that you have to go down to the high school level to find the true game.
I'm honestly getting to the point where it's hard to enjoy the pro game.
The best hockey played every year is at the World Jr. tourney.
And I get to see fantastic hockey at the junior C and B level in my area as well.
NCAA hockey is also great to watch.
The NHL game is getting very hard to watch because of how boring and defensive it's become again.Comment

Re: The Official 2010-11 Regular Season Talk Thread
Most teams are. There are only about 5 teams worth watching this year and usually only when they play each other.
I don't have the center ice package so I get my hockey fix from TSN, Sportsnet and CBC.
So while I do see quite a few Leafs games, TSN picks up VS games so I get my US national fill as well.
I can't count how many games I've watched where I lose interest half-way through the 1st period.
As a Wings fan I'm supposed to hate the Leafs and I do. But I find them much easier to watch because they play a more open style. There's more room.
The same can't be said for most of the other teams though.
And really, because the rules and structure of the NHL game are setup the way they are, you're rewarded for playing an ultra-conservative game style. All you need is some speedy defensive forwards and a big goalie.
After that, pray to the hockey gods your 2 or 3 offensive guys can pot an early PP goal and ride-off with 2-points.Comment

Re: The Official 2010-11 Regular Season Talk Thread
I always expected him to come back around playoff time; it fits the NHL's goal of him returning to the ice to save his team once again.
:
Seriously though, if he can return to his play pre-concussion, obviously it makes the Pens very dangerous. Interested to see how he plays in his first few games and how he responds to hard hits.Comment

Yeah, I hope Sid can get his head back and then maybe Kovalev can find his heart again.I always expected him to come back around playoff time; it fits the NHL's goal of him returning to the ice to save his team once again.

Yeah...you can usually tell if you're gonna be getting a hockey game or a stick-lifting contest pretty early.
Oh well, like you said, there's plenty of other places to watch good hockey. I have Saturday season tickets for my alma mater, MN-Duluth.Comment
