dont take me wrong, the thing im interested to see from sega w/c ea has is this, crowds are fewer if ur team is not having a good season or both teams are in the bottom of standings. i guess this is quite realistic. in the drought years of vancouver, 97-98, there were few sold outs tickets, granting how vancouverites are loyal to their Canucks. beside that.......IM ALL THE WAY ESPN HOCKEY..... just take a look at this point: presented in the format of ESPN. im not familiar w/ gary and co. but they sounded like the real thing.....man cant wait for this game........less than 7 days to go.........

Yes, ESPN does have the same old fighting engine. If that's what you're in it for, you'll be disappointed.

But otherwise, ESPN has the superior AI and physics, and going by every single piece of media I've seen on both games, it also has -- HANDS DOWN -- the superior presentation over EA.

But YOU be the judge here. Here are some movies which show off the presentation (right-click and save as):

                  http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~sega/es...vingshot01.wmv

                  http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~sega/es...heckover01.wmv

                  http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~sega/es...onetimer01.wmv

                  http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~sega/es...NNHL_intro.wmv

                  http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~sega/es...nhanced640.wmv

                  And some screens:

I can't speak much for EA. From what I've seen, it looks a lot like 2003 presentation-wise (for better or for worse). Same cutscene style, and Jim Hughson still commentating. I think the faces look much worse and I absolutely despise hearing Jim Hughson's annoying voice for the 8th straight year. Beyond that, I won't judge EA's presentation.

But take what we've got of ESPN and judge from there.

                  <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I will agree with espn, having better presentation. It just seems more like a real hockey broadcast-kind of presentation. One area that I would like to see ea change.

it seems that many people look at the wrong part of these two games...if i want to play a videogame of hockey, i want to play the game that looks best when i am actually playing the game, not when there are cutscenes or the stat boxes...NHL 2004 have MUCH MUCH MUCH!! better graphics than NHL 2k4...people could comfuse nhl 2k4 for PS1....the complaint last year between the two games was that nhl 2k3 was more realistic with scoring, the AI, and the manangement point with drafting, scouting etc. well this year EA has added an amzing management mode, just as good, if not better than Sega's, and they have improved the AI..scoring will be harder, and the games will be more realistic...EA is the better game, dont be fooled by the ESPN graphics
