I'm in a weird spot with the Wild. I've already said "screw this season" and want them to tank to try and get a top 5 draft pick (how sad is that?), but I also want them to stay competitive so FA's might want to come here

I predicted 9th before the season. I just didn't think it was going to be in such horrible fashion. If they make the playoffs, great...they'll be quickly dispatched.

Before the season it felt like a Wings year to me. I'm sticking with that. Really feels like we're due for a Wings Cup win. I feel dirty.

Chicago is never gonna make a nice run if they keep switching between Crawford and Emery. Emery is pretty terrible, they need to keep Crawford in net to get him going sooner rather than later. Why have they even been starting Emery, he hasn't been playing well of late either. Crawford's their guy, but they may need to make a move if they don't trust him.

Realistically, they're the perfect fit. They have the resources to make it happen and they're an Eastern Conference team.

For cap reasons, Schenn would have to be included. After that, they'd probably have to add Read and a pick, or some great D prospect.

I've also heard the Canucks dangling Cory Schneider and Cody Hodgson in their direction.
That would help the BJ's out tremendously. Great young goalie and a potential #1 centre.

But I wouldn't be surprised if the new CBA allowed for an amnesty buy-out option and if that happens, I could see Gillis paying Lou to go away, giving Schneider the #1 role.

              It's going to be interesting.
I'm also wondering if Nash finally agreed to waive his NTC because Carter has demanded out. Both should be moved before the deadline.

Poor BJ fans. Another rebuild coming. And they have a #1 pick which is supposed to be another Russian winger. They've had great luck with those players haven't they?

Well at least Columbus is actually doing something interesting this year. They just saved trade deadline day from possibly being a bomb.

LeBrun and Dreger said on TSN that they think 5 teams that are interested so far are the Kings, Flyers, Rangers, Canucks, and Leafs. I doubt the Rangers or Leafs pull anything off but the Canucks, Kings, and Flyers are all stocked with assets I could see them being willing to part with to get Nash. The Kings have Johnson and Bernier, the Flyers have Van Riemsdyk and Schenn, and the Canucks have Schenider and Hodgson.

I think out of all those teams I'd prefer to see him go to Vancouver. I am biased though because I still want to see a Canadian team win the Cup. And taking my homer hat off, obviously the Jets are at least a few years away from doing that, so the Canucks are The Great White Hope lol.

Kings are the most logical in-season landing spot for Nash. LA has necessary assets (Bernier, Johnson, Loktionov, 1st rounder); LA desperate for offence from the wing; no worries about disrupting chemistry that NYR or VAN might have; PHI needs D, not Nash; TOR LOL; Lombardi needs to make the playoffs to save his job.

I'm taking great pleasure in this Blackhawks late-season collapse.

Now if only Saint Louis and Detroit would start slipping up.

Sabres need offense but I'm not sure we have the pieces to get him and quite frankly, I haven't had much exposure to him so I don't know if he's someone I'd want or would be worth getting.

Oh, and there's that little matter of the team being generally worthless and going nowhere in the standings.

While I like him as a player and think his stats would explode if he played next to Giroux, we should be nowhere near these negotiations.

                          1. Giving up Schenn is a terrible idea, and I really like Read also.
                          2. We have no great D prospects.
                          3. We already have 3 TERRIBLE contracts (Prongs, Briere, Bryz)
                          4. We do not need forwards.

I seriously don't know why Homer is wasting his time with this when he should be out looking for two defensemen.

Is it just me, or have the amount of power plays per game dropped significantly over the last month or two? Clutch-and-grab seems to be on the upswing again. Monday night's PHX/VAN game was straight out of 2003. I really hope I'm just imagining things and this doesn't represent the league's "solution" to the concussion epidemic.

BTW, projected totals for Art Ross race (this is assuming zero games missed from here to season's end):

                                Malkin 104
                                Giroux 93
                                Stamkos 92 (54G)
                                Kessel 87
                                Lupul 85
