Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
Most likely Mason's a case of too much, too soon. Skipping the minors and jumping straight to the NHL at 19 is difficult for most. This is Mason's 4th NHL season and he's still the youngest starting goalie in the league. There's a reason why the AHL exists.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. 2 quick scores for the Wild makes it 2-1. Didn't even start announcing the first one by Latendresse before PMB blasted in a second.Comment

Phew. Kaner saves the Hawks with the lone shootout goal. The Florida goalie Markstrom was impressive."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Good game it was, sadly I could only catch the last 2 minutes of regulation but sure glad I did.
Real bummer after Jovanovski's late goal. Still can't believe that dude is back with the Panthers.
Markstrom is a real BEAST..in every sense of the word. 6'6, I think the second tallest goalie in NHL history. His leg pads pretty much take up the whole net....that game winner just BARELY snuck up underneath the left one on Kane's game winner. Tough game.Comment

I don't think the Wild can play any better than they did tonight.Comment

Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
They've shown fight, this game and the Jets game a few nights ago was impressive[coming back in losses]. They need to play like they play in the last 4 minutes of games and translate that in to an all game experience. I know it's only 12 games in, but if they play this way all year, I think the drought will be over.Comment

They scored that goal 2 minutes in and seemed to think, "Well, that's good enough for tonight, boys." Then didn't do anything whatsoever for the next 58 minutes. The only thing that was missing was running Luongo out of the game.Comment

The Leafs are #1 in the Eastern Conference....Is hell frozen over yet?
Actually, I have to say the Leafs have turned into an exciting young team with some veteran leadership and all this is happening with Reimer out with a concussion. The defense is pretty fast and while they don't play things perfectly they make up for it in speed. The blue line is so fast overall that it's made Luke Schenn look like a snail by comparison.

Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
Wish I could say the same about Detroit SPTO.
6 goals in our last 5 games. Nice.
Our team looks like crap right now and I'd be elated if Holland found a way to trade Hudler, Bertuzzi, Franzen and Filppula for a bag of beef jerky.
I've been waiting for Filppula to finally develop into that 70-point player like we thought he would. It's not going to happen.
He's soft and hates shooting the puck. He still has some trade value and I think he can improve on a different club under different circumstances. And we could use more size on the wings. Not sure what the market would be for Filp right now though.
And if I can make complaint #93282 about the Wings trading down in order to get Landon Ferraro, please allow me to do so.
The Wings traded their 1st rounder in 2009 to the Lightning in order to pick Ferraro up.
The Lightning took Carter Ashton, son of former Wing, Brent Ashton.
He's a big powerforward who can play either wing, score goals, bang bodies and fight.
Currently he has 9 goals and 13 points in 10 AHL games.
Ferraro is nursing a concussion and has 1 assist in 3 AHL games.
I've followed both kids careers since that '09 draft and while Ashton has improved every year and impressed TB brass, Ferraro has gotten worse and worse.
Nice job Wings. No, we don't need any size, skill and grit along the wings. Nope. Give us another undersized centre.Comment
