Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
Nice touching tribute for Demitra and Korolev in St. Louis right now.
Quenneville and Hossa got a little choked up. It looked like Hossa wiped away a tear. Q coached both of them and Demitra was Hossa's best friend.
Hull and Tkachuk spoke and Demitra's wife read a letter.
Blackhawks played pretty bad all night though, the Blues won every battle along the boards and were in the shooting and passing lanes all night. I had a bad feeling about this game after they fired Payne because teams tend to play hard after a coaching change and it definitely held true tonight, the Blues were the better team and it wasn't even close. Very disappointed in the Hawks effort tonight. Two bad losses in a row (not saying the Canucks or Blues are bad, just the fashion in which we got out played horribly), need to get things back on track Thursday against the Blue Jackets.Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

Wild with 5 on the bounce.
Backstrom came up with a shutout tonight in the first game of a West Coast swing. He made a couple big stops, but Calgary honestly never looked like they were going to take any points tonight.
Wow, I just realized Calgary had 41 shots. I guess that's a little inflated because of their 7 power plays, including a 5-minute major. It really didn't seem like they had that many.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 11-09-2011, 01:22 AM.Comment

Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
Thanks for the feedback on Canucks/Hawks. Good stuff.
I'm enjoying the Laraque/Pang twitter war tonight while watching the WSOP. If Gretzky was the worst NHL coach Laraque ever played for (and that's probably true), is it fair to say that Laraque was the worst NHL player Gretzky ever coached? I also don't know if I'd ever publicly brag about having a 22-point "career year".Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Ah, Leaf Land is a strange place, A week ago the media and fans were saying "omg the Leafs have depth now that they never had before!. The goaltending is pretty good and they play exciting hockey that sees a lot of goals being scored!"
Flash forward to now and we got fans calling up the radio wanting Burke to make trades and call up Nazem Kahdri (sp?) who, in every stint he's had on the big club has looked like a complete stiff who only cares about playing in the offensive zone but can't help out on defensive side at all. Ron Wilson has now started a goalie controversy with one goalie who's shaky and prone to giving up terrible goals and a young kid who's only the #2 because Reimer is hurt. The fans are booing the team off the ice etc etc etc.

I do think Gustavsson may be done in the NHL after this season. He could never find his game on the small ice and lost his confidence along the way. With Scrivens and Rynnas in the system I don't see a place for him in the organization going forward. The best thing for him might be to return to the SEL.
Things should get better once Reimer returns. He's not a stud by any means, but he has size, seems highly motivated, and his teammates believe in him.Comment

I agree with you, I think this is a team that will be around the 6th-8th seed. I think I said something similar to that effect at the beginning of the season too.
Yeah, The Monster is basically done at the NHL level IMO though I think some other team might pick him up on a cheapie deal and see what they can make out of him. I do think the whole Connolly thing screwed the team up too. The guy is softer than tissue paper. They don't even know what caused his 2nd injury! Not having the #1 center anchoring the top line has shuffled the deck to the point that you got players playing out of their depth.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Lightning vs. Flyers about to start, really excited.
Chicago was a tough game, but I believe this is the toughest game since the Capitals game where they got blown out.
I don't think the Bolts can spot Philly 3 points and expect to win, really hope Roli steps his game up tonight.
One more thing, Steven Stamkos. That is all.Kenny Bell with quote of the year: "I would play for Bo Pelini against Satan himself and a team of demons at the gates of the underworld."Comment

Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
The yoohoo at The Orange County Register is talking trash again about the city of Nashville and the Predators:
ANAHEIM – The time is now, right now. Right now — with 11 of their next 13 at Honda Center. Right now — with those two road games being only a one-hour flight (Phoenix) and one-ho…
How is this guy still employed after last year's ridiculousness in the playoffs?

Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
This is funny. With the 1-3-1 TB runs, Flyers are just waiting for that 1 to come forward to come after the puck carrier and when they don't, the Flyers bench is mocking them.
Lighting needs the first goal bad.Comment

Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
I know it could be perceived in different ways, but if anything, shouldn't the team in possession of the puck(on offense) be the team obligated to keep the game moving?
I know there isn't really a rule for this sort of thing, but I don't understand the Flyer bench mocking TB. You guys have the puck... if anything the Flyers seem more deserving of mocking to me.Now, more than everComment
