well, i think the fact that they played great without Malkin, Staal, Crosby for the better part of the season last year. stayed at/near top of the east, blew a 3-1 lead vs Bolts, again, lose to a better team without 2 superstars.. shows that this team is very solid obviously.. now add Malkin back this year, a healthy Staal and knock on wood a healthy Crosby, yup, heck of a chance to dominate the league and compete for a Cup..

i would love to see the Pens play the Bruins in the playoffs and beat them in 5 or 6 games.. bc all your ranting will be hilarious..

heck, some of your early season posts with them struggling was funny as well.

I'm not questioning they're a good team, that managed to play well with Crosby out. I question the media frenzy that they instantly are a shoo in for a cup win now. We all know they're good, we all know they're going to be a top tier eastern conference team for a while.

What I take exception to is having it shoved down my throat every 2 seconds by the media. The Wild have the best record in hockey right now, barely a word about it, Boston went from last in their division to first in 16 days, barely a word about it. The night before Crosby's return game, no fewer than 11 stories on NHL.com about it. Really? We need 11 front page stories on how great Sidney Crosby is? I think we get it.

Pierre Mc Guire outta just blow him and get it over it. It's ridiculous how much he gets praised when he's a diver and a whiner to go along with his skill.

Yeah, Steve's done such a great job of turning the Lightning back into a contender that I have a hard time saying anything bad about him but sticking with Roloson this year is looking like a bigger mistake each and every game. It's a bummer, because the season is pretty much a waste unless he magically finds his groove and starts playing far better than he is right now.

I think we'll still find a way to the playoffs, the offensive talent is too much for a lot of teams to deal with and it's not like Roloson is horrible. I just doubt we make any noise like last year.

Considering how well he played for them last year I'm not surprised Stevie resigned him.
But I would have thought he would have covered his bases and signed a decent backup just in case Father Time caught up with him.

ha. its well known that Pierre's man love goes to Mike Richards.. a whiner himself, a proven loser, who cant get the job done, as well as not being able to control "his" locker room.. he called him Captain Leadership..

Ha, I'm still not sure his man-crush with Sid is greater than his love of Phaneuf spanning 05-07.

I was actually afraid for Phaneuf when the two were in the same room.

Not sure how the Bruins come away with an extra 2 minutes out of that scrum but whatever. Sabres have gotten two gift power plays from the ref's so far. Should be interesting to see if it continues.

EDIT - Guess they decided to even it out with the Bruins getting a couple of questionable PP as well.

Wild signed a 51 year old goalie today, to a tryout contract, after Backstrom had to leave the team temporarily for personal reasons. They weren't sure if Matt Hackett would be up from Houston in time.

One of the Wild's higher ups in the front office has a friend, 51 year old Paul Deutsch, a beer league goalie who started playing the position at the age of 37.

Hackett hopped the first plane to Minneapolis and just barely made it in time for the game. But I'm sure it's a thrill to skate out on the ice with those guys between periods!

They just interviewed him: the last time he played "organized" hockey was at Minneapolis Roosevelt JV as a defenseman. He as originally going to be at the game with his daughter's hockey team, guess his seat got upgraded a little bit!! Haha

Of all the threads and posts I've had to worry about, the NHL forum, games and all has been the last one I've had to religiously check. For the sake of this thread, which historically, has rarely had issues, can we please keep the garbage back and forth out of it?

It really isn't necessary.
