Games like tonight are the types of games that will cost you in the end, if you lose them.

Good win for the Wild tonight. May not have been pretty, but a win is a win.

    Keep it rolling, Wild
University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey
    Minnesota's Pride on Ice: 1974, 1976, 1979, 2002 & 2003 NCAA National Champions

More like closers to me. Important to have a good one, but still somewhat overrated, and good ones are easier to find than many people think. Their numbers tend to be influenced by the team's "system" (ballpark, fielders). None of them are worth a big-money, long-term contract unless their name is Mariano Rivera.

6 goals combined in the 2nd period of Nashville/Vancouver.

Schneider and Rinne both have been pulled.

Man......that was amazing. What an atmosphere in the MTS Centre. I've been in the building before for Moose games and all that, but there's nothing like being in there for a Jets game. Even the kiss cam winners got booed because people thought another couple should have won.

It was pretty damn cool being about two feet away from actual NHL players and coaches as well. I got a couple good shots of some players on my iPod. The crazy thing was that even though I was right there behind the players and coaches, I still couldn't hear what was being said. I was wishing that wasn't the case at one moment in the game when Hanzal took a shot at Byfuglien and Byfuglien went off on him as they skated back to the bench.

Win or lose this was still going to be a hell of an experience, but the fact the Jets won topped everything off. Now I'm wishing I could go back again (if only I was loaded enough to get season tickets...).

As I finish typing this up, it's still crazy to think that I'm actually talking about going to a Jets game. At the beginning of 2011, I would have never guessed there would be Jets games to go to.

I'll end this with the line of the night in the crowd: "Hey 'Yotes, this is what real fans look like!"

EDIT: I have pictures to share! (Spoiler due to size of pictures)

Nice. First NHL game, or first in Winnipeg?

Probably won't be able to catch the Jets game in Vancouver this season, but somewhere down the road to be sure. The last Jets/Canucks game I went to was the spring of *cough* 1991, in the midst of the last great Smythe Division turtle derby. Good times.

Wish we could've had a couple games like that last spring. Preds/Ducks was a surprisingly fun series: Nashville's O vs Anaheim's D was a classic case of the stoppable force vs the movable object. Preds/Canucks was a contender for worst playoff series played since the lockout.

                      First regular season NHL game.

I'd been to one of the preseason games they had here. Pretty sure it was Phoenix and Calgary.

But yeah, I so badly want to go back. If I could afford season tickets, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But the price combined with the fact that there's a nice long list of other people waiting to get in on some means that isn't going to happen. Oh well. So long as I can at least go to a game or two a season, I'd be content I guess.

                        Great pictures BnG!

I've only sat up close (about 10ish rows back) once, but it's a whole different world down there then up high (where I've typically sat, good for sight but not the same experience). I remember my first NHL game, I was so awestruck by how big the players looked. I had only seen them on my TV screen before then, so it was so eye opening.

I haven't been to a game in a couple of years now, so I'm sure it'll be a shock again next time I get to the Center for the Flyers. I definitely wanna get seats right up on the glass, though.

Might make the trek to Philly for the Winter Classic. Check the festivities. Hope the weather is perfect!

                        NFL - Buffalo Bills

lol Schneider got pulled after allowing 3 goals on 5 shots.

That after he came into the game with a GAA under 1 and a save percentage in the .900s.

Just shows how goaltending can be totally random in the NHL from night to night.

Luongo actually played pretty well in relief, but the defending in front of him was awful. Frankly, the defending from both teams was some of the worst I've seen at the NHL level. Maybe both teams were really fatigued coming into the game or something?

The Preds, maybe. The Canucks allowed 45 shots to San Jose and 48 to Columbus (!) in recent days, so their sloppiness last night didn't exactly shock me.

I gotta think owners will fight hard for an 'Amnesty Card' given to each team after the next CBA.
If so, I gotta believe the Canucks are going to buyout Luongo.

Jonathan Quick now tied with Dustin Penner in points with 2.

Even Scott Gomez has more points than Penner.
