Re: The Official 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
I was honestly surprised by some of the calls in the other two games. Why can't every series have referees like the Pit/Phi ones? For the playoffs only the blatant/serious infractions should be called (high sticks, boarding) along with the automatics (too many men, delay of game).
Calling a snow shower and charging on clean hits...really?
Let them play. #Because it's the Cup.My YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/gosjsharks14Comment

Why even fine him $2,500? That's like fining the average person their lunch money."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Fids with the call.
Well, Red Wings, just make sure you don't seriously hurt anyone with the retaliations, and you'll be fine!Comment

And Weber's on "probation" now.
I thought he was going to get at least 1 game for sure.Comment

Re: The Official 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
Well, you guys all called it...the NHL is stupid to the point of indefensible; if that was Crosby that had his head slammed like that, Weber would be out for the playoffs. The fact that they say they reached out to the Wings and found out Hank was okay says everything about their bass-ackwards "logic", because that should have absolutely NOTHING to do with the meted out punishment. The NHL either is or is not serious about cleaning up the game and reducing concussions; at this point, they pretty clearly are not serious.Comment

Re: The Official 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
I think we all can conclude that the NHL doesn't give a hoot about player safety. If you want to stop problems the much better action is to be proactive not reactive."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Re: The Official 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
It's embarrassing. I really hope the NHL starts to crack down on the increase in embellishment. I doubt they'd go as far as suspending players (when they don't even suspend them for bashing a guys face into the boards) but I wouldn't mind seeing fines.

Nobody cares about player safety except media and some fans. Sad but true.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: The Official 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
For sure. I want to be clear that I am not in favor of "street justice" or vigilantism in the game (or anywhere else for that matter), but if something violent happens in game 2 - or future games - the league will have no one to blame but themselves. If a team feels like they can't get a fair shake, or if they're being roughed up illegally and the league office responds with a collective shrug of the shoulders, at some point - as we have often seen - they will take matters into their own hands....Comment
