To add to Staal-Staal-Semin....they already have Ruutu-Skinner-Jokinen.

In a matter of months Carolina got real deadly. And then on Defense, most of them are puck-movers. Faulk, Pitkanen, Corvo, Gragnani, Ryan Murphy, Gleason, McBain....etc.

      Jokinen-Skinner-Ruutu isn't a shabby 2nd line either.

I'm still not a fan of their defense though. As much as I love puck moving guys, there's not a whole lot of elite talent there (depending if Murphy makes the NHL team or not).

Guess Tim Thomas won't be playing for a Canadian team in 2013/14.

Felt that's too much for RFA imo.

He and Loui Eriksson has same cap hit for the next 4 years, Eriksson has to have one of the best team friendly contract in the league right now along with Andrew MacDonald and Burrows.

As maligned as the Isles FO is, they have had some steals as far as contracts go (all in cap hit per year):

            MacDonald- 4 years, 550 K
            Okposo- 5 years, 2.8 M
            Nielsen- 4 years, 2.75 M
Picking Moulson, Grabner and Parenteau off the scrap heap; Boyes could be next on the list

It was a joke last year that they had Niederreiter playing in the NHL because he had a cap hit and have him play 10mins TOI.

Tobias Enstrom re-signs with Jets, TSN is saying 5 years 28.75M (5.75AAV). Great deal, he helps big Buff a lot.

Shane Doan (age 36 by the time the season starts) wants a 4yr/30M contract. Pass.

Yeah for every step forward, they do something moronic like that.

                    I bet someone pay that.

Free agency was really top-heavy this off-season, and teams are going to reach on the players who are still left.

                      Oh, probably. Bat-**** insane, though.

Ryan Smyth is 6 months older, scored 4 fewer points, plays a similar game, and recently re-signed with the Oilers for [email protected] per.

Yeah I don't see any team paying that much for Doan, not at his age. He's crazy if he thinks he's worth 30 million dollars over 4 years.

I'd love to hear his logic on why he deserves a raise.

Wait, isn't it that he'd need that money to LEAVE Phoenix? Could it be that he's telling teams, "I like Phoenix. You'll have to pay stupid money to get me."

That's kind of the impression I've gotten from some of the information.
He and his agent have both said they've never asked for that kind of cash, but who knows if they're telling the truth or not.

I like Doan, but I think he's an overrated player considering a somewhat mediocre career.
He's only scored more than 30 goals and 70 points twice in his career.
He's basically a 25 goal, 55 point winger. I know he brings a lot of 'intangibles' to the rink, but I don't think that should equate to anything beyond $4M a year. Especially at his extended age.

Among those being lethal and unsuspecting elbows to the head of opposing players! And he has a permanent get out of jail free card to save him from the slow and unsteady, wrist-slapping hand of the league office!
