Re: The Official NHL 2012 Off-Season Thread
Won't happen. Phoenix needs to hit the floor, they won't trade one of their most expensive players (and best). Plus, they'd ask for Schenn, Couturier and more, and I doubt Holmgren would make that move.
I doubt Yandle was ever available. Just some speculation brought up by the east coast bias.Comment

That was just assuming that they didn't have any cash (ie - worst case scenario). It's also possible that one of them has $27 million sitting in their checking account, I don't know.Comment

Gary Bettman is probably secretly fronting them the money. Nashville, Phoenix, Florida, Atlan...well not them...will succeed in those markets!Comment

If Nashville didn't keep Webber it would have set that franchise back a few years. Nashville fans always seem to support that team so I think it would've been pretty sad.Comment

So, a few days later, I don't hate the trade. Still think the Jackets should have gotten more, but alas, here we are.
A Foligno-Ansimov-Dubinsky line is an awesome idea, though.Too Old To Game Club
Urban Meyer is lol.Comment

From TSN:Restricted free agent forward Evander Kane appears to be inching closer to a deal with the Winnipeg Jets.
According to Winnipeg Free Press writer and TSN Radio 1290 host Gary Lawless, negotiations between the Kane camp and the Jets have gained momentum, with Kane considering the a six-year deal from the club that would be worth around $29 million.Comment

Re: The Official NHL 2012 Off-Season Thread
Predators have signed some cheap extensions for two of their forwards:
Colin Wilson -- 3 years, $6 million
Sergei Kostitsyn --2 years, $6 million
Both of these guys struggled badly in the second half of the year and were invisible during the playoff run.
Colin Wilson was a healthy scratch for 6 of the Predators' 10 playoff games.
Sergei Kostitsyn was a -3 with only 2 points in 10 playoff games, ending the Phoenix series on Nashville's fourth line.
He was on pace to surpass all of his previous totals and I think he's on the cusp of being a legit #1 centre.
He's still young and I think his ceiling is a high one.Comment
