re: Fate of Coyotes decided in 2 decades(?)
Bettman, speaking after the NHL’s Board of Governors meeting in Manhattan, was asked if a new deal for the Coyotes needs to be approved by July 2.
“I don't want to be more specific than I'm going to be, but if the council doesn't approve it so that this transaction can close, I don't think the Coyotes will be playing there anymore,” said Bettman.
Rumors are the council is going to vote down this deal (easily). It seems the only reason to push for a vote is to allow this awful deal to go public and justify why they are letting the Coyotes go.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

The city council said the RSE proposal is a non-starter. City council counters with an offer this afternoon and it's already been rejected by RSE. No vote will happen before the NHL's deadline.
If the NHL sticks to their word, it's Seattle or Quebec City.

Bill Daly: Good Guy? (Besides to PHX fans)
Strange world.
They've given Phoenix everything they can. It's been past the point of being fair to themselves and most importantly the fans. I'm sure they want closure whether that's staying in the desert or headed elsewhere.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

I actually think Daly is a pretty good guy. In interviews i've heard with him he seems a lot more flexible but he knows where his bread is buttered and has to toady up to Bettman. I bet if Daly were running things, half the crap that's going on in the boardrooms of the NHL wouldn't be there.
Glad to see the NHL laying down the law now though. If the team moves to Seattle i'd name em the Slew you know, after the horse. Okay, maybe notMember of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

The Hockey Panel on TSN reported that July 2nd is the absolute drop-dead date.
I believe the quote was "If they refuse to respect the July 2nd date, we're moving on".
Whether they stay or remain, it'll be nice to get this drama over with.Comment

NHLPA informs members that Seattle is most likely destination for Coyotes:

If RSE does not secure the financing, or if the City Council does not vote to approve the proposed lease, our understanding is that the League would immediately pursue one of several back-up alternatives which likely would entail a prompt relocation of the franchise. While there are several potential cities which the team might be relocated, it appears that Seattle is the most likely.Comment

Wonder what a Seattle team would be named. How about the Seattle Salmon? They could wear pink jerseys at home.Comment

Between eating all the neighborhood cats and attacking large dogs in packs at parks, Coyotes is pretty fitting for Seattle. Of course any Seattle team has to have some maritime or regional theme to it, so they'll probably go with Seacoyotes.

How about the Seattle Orcas? They could make a good logo out of that.Comment

I, personally, just hope they stay away from the name of the team that was up here long ago. I would prefer there be no way I'm considered a "Mets" fan. Then again, we'd have hockey, so I'd get over it quickly.
No clue what I'd want to call them. Wonder if they'd take the Seahawks/Sounders/Thunderbirds color scheme. Wonder if they could use Sonics colors?
Dammit you're all getting me excited. I said I wasn't going to get too invested in this.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment
