At least Oilers getting Lucic out of this. Opening new building with healthy McDavid, and new additions in Lucic/Larson

Friedman co-signed.
McKenzie: cancel the Stamkos sweepstakes. He's going back to Tampa.

Re: NHL 2016 Off-Season Thread
HOLY MOLY!
- Regarding Hall, this was something the Oilers needed to do (not so sure i'd have chosen Hall as the sacrificial lamb though) as they have too many players of similar skillset. Hopefully the Oilers can become slightly better from this.
- Out of all the places for PK Subban to go to I did NOT see Nashville as that place. Looks like the Habs are going for grit this season with all their moves so far. Shea Weber will be a leader in that locker room.
- Damnit, wish Stamkos was coming to Toronto but nice to see him return to Tampa.
EDIT: If that's the real reason the Habs traded Subban then...how petty can you get?! That was a great initiative on his part. He did that COMPLETELY on his own. Why should he include the Canadiens in it?Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I find it probable...remember the Roy situation. Criticized the org and then was traded that same season (don't remember the exact timeframe).
Reportedly he had character flaws as well as on-ice flaws. I agree with the reply to the tweet.

That being said, there has always been friction between Subban and the current management and coaching staff. Therrien and Subban kept butting heads all last season with the former wanting Subban to play more defensively and not play "on the fly".Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: NHL 2016 Off-Season Thread
Good deal for Stamkos. Would have liked him on the Leafs, but it's not time for that type of player with that contract to come here.
Can't believe Montreal traded PK for Weber who is on the downslope of his career. I guess it's a similar ticket, but man, they must have really hated PK.Comment

Re: NHL 2016 Off-Season Thread
Stamkos staying in Tampa tells me two things:
1) They will regret this. They're going to lose so many pieces in the coming years now because they have all that money tied up in one player.
2) I believe it was Doc who said it on here many years ago, and it's been proven true once again: superstar free agents do not sign in Canada. They only leave.Comment
