    Patrick Roy resigned

When did Anaheim hire Carlyle and how did I miss it?

Dammit, I'm going to miss the Wild beating him all the time. This is such a fitting way for that relationship to end.

I have thought long and hard over the course of the summer about how I might improve this team to give it the depth it needs and bring it to a higher level. To achieve this, the vision of the coach and VP-Hockey Operations needs to be perfectly aligned with that of the organization. He must also have a say in the decisions that impact the team's performance. These conditions are not currently met.
Some stuff must have gone down for him to quit this close to the start of training camp.
Any guesses on who might fill the void?

I wonder if Tony Granato is cursing his name asking why he couldn't have done this prior to him taking the NCAA gig.

My pipe dream would be John Stevens, also would love Travis Green.

I'll laugh if they end up with Hartley. Sucks that Roy decided to quit this late in the Summer, but oh well.

Colorado has quietly had a solid offseason. They overhauled their D, adding young analytics gems in Wiercoich and Gelinas (deadline add, but still), buying out an over the hill Stuart, trading Holden and bringing in Tyutin, who has lost a step but still is a solid DFD. They signed Barrie and MacKinnon to reasonable deals. Joe Colborne is a solid add for 2.5 M, even if the analytics don't think he can repeat what he did last year. Finally, they fired Patrick Roy. Now if they could move out of the Central and into the Pacific, they'd be ready to roll.

I think Sakic has done well this offseason, just because he didn't do anything dumb with trades or free agency like he did in the past.

I'm not a fan of Wiercoich nor Gelinas, both are awful. Don't think Tyutin is good anymore either, but don't mind him because he's mainly signed to mentor Zadorov. I don't like Colborne either. However, I'm not gonna complain since none of the contracts they gave out are horrible. Sakic has done well getting rid of crappy players though, just need someone to take John Mitchell now.

Did I just read that the Ducks gave Vermette a NMC that turns into a NTC?

Considering over 90% of the players in the league has some sort of NMC I'm not surprised.

Interesting that the nmc expires right before expansion draft.....

Maybe he wants to play for Vegas? Guarantees he's in Anaheim this year, doesn't take up a protected spot next year, gets drafted by Vegas, and then they can't trade him after.

A no movement clause is a no movement clause. There is nothing to confuse it with.

I don't know what you're confusing a no movement clause with but there is no way the number of players with one is 90%.

Last year the the most was 6 (Wild) and the average looks to be around 2-3 players a team.
