Carolina claimed Martin Frk off waivers from Detroit.

He just took too long to develop. He put up large numbers with MacKinnon and Drouin in Halifax, but then split time between the ECHL/AHL once he was finished there. Last year it looked like the light finally went on. However, even if we decided to waive the garbage at the bottom of the roster, Athanasiou and Mantha would be ahead of him as far as getting a shot.

This isn't the first time this has happened recently, Andrej Nestrasil was picked up off of waivers by Carolina, and Mattias Janmark was a throw in on the Erik Cole deal (along with Mattias Backman).

Red Wings waive Pulkkinen.

Glad the Leafs got 1st dibs at waiver guys. If I were them ,I'd definitely be claiming him. They got the cap room, and if they feel they got too many guys on the main roster, they could simply just send down/waive someone like a Holland,Hyman or something.

Dallas signs Lauri Korpikoski to a 1-yr deal as well.

I am beyond furious.

He's gonna Leino us. With Babs in Toronto with some of their other kids, he's gonna put up 20/30/50. This is just like Quincey being waived over Lebda and Lilja in 2008; Pulkkinen is being waived to keep Miller and Ott. Maybe then we'll trade a 1st round pick to get Pulkkinen back in 5 years.

Yup - he was completely misused in his (very little) time in Detroit, and his GM and coach threw him under the bus. I have now reached the point where I have no confidence in Ken Holland, and very little in Jeff Blashill. We have signed Abdelkader and Glendening for the same or more money as Tampa signs Kucherov. Are you kidding me?
