Bickell diagnosed with MS. The doctors finally found out what was wrong with him. I wish him the best.

Leafs-Flyers HOF game tonight. Former Flyer and one time Leaf Eric Lindros of course headlines the class. Not to mention former Flyers and Leafs coach Pat Quinn inducted as well.

Quinn no doubt will get a huge reaction from the crowd. Sucks to not have him here for it. Only reason he wasn't inducted before was cause he was on the HHOF committee.

Steve Ott doing what he does best; taking stupid penalties and providing teams 5-on-3's.
3-0 Habs. Game over. Nobody's scoring 4 on Price, especially a Wings team that has trouble scoring on empty nets.

Thanks Holland. So glad you signed Ott. No need to give time to young players who can actually play the game.

What a fantastic goal Kane scored last night! Unbelievable!
I thought the Hawks thoroughly outplayed the Habs. They certainly showed there's a wide gap between the two 'best' teams in either conference.

Did anyone else catch the play where Weber crosschecked a Hawk offside?
Toews was carrying the puck into the zone on the left side. Weber got caught in the neutral zone so to compensate, he crosschecked the winger offside resulting in a whistle.
What should have happened was Weber should have received either a crosschecking or interference penalty. His uncalled infraction led to a whistle in Montreal's favour instead of a 2-on-1 for the Hawks, or at the very least a PP for Chicago.

Earlier in the week, Paranin was slashed 5 or 6 times by Scotty Upshall before being crosschecked by him, which resulted in Paranin pummeling him in a fight.
Again, no calls, and the Blues are able to get one of the Hawks best players off the ice for 5 minutes in exchange for a 4th liner.

I don't know why the NHL even bothers with officials. Just hire linesmen to call offsides and icings.
The officials are so, so scared to call anything they're not even needed on the ice.
Just money thrown out the window.

NHL I find is actually the better of the big 4 pro sports in terms of officials. NBA I'd rank as the worst, NFL at times I think it's more about the rulebook being unclear than officials being horrible, and don't get me started on MLB umps lol.

NHL refs aren't perfect either, but still not so bad in comparison.

But in general in the NHL, just seems like people are so for or against certain things, you'll always have one side against stuff. Like how some people want fighting gone, others want it to stay. Or how some want players to be allowed to be more aggressive, but others want the aggression to stop. Doesn't help when the people making the decisions in the NHL seem to take forever to do anything if they ever do act on stuff.

I think that's my biggest annoyance. Pick one or the other.
Either call everything by the book, or don't.
But IMO, if the NHL actually does care about quantity of goals, then they need to call everything. No make-up calls either so every game has to be even.
In the Weber example, that should have been a 2-on-1 - a very exciting play in hockey.
It was taken away because of Weber's actions. And I have a feeling he may not have done that if the NHL was calling every rule by the letter.

I also understand refs missing calls, but some of them are so blatant you know the refs are going out of their way to swallow their whistles. And if that's the case, why even be on the ice?

Leafs win! Marner with a goal, JVR with hattrick. If only they could play like this more often.....

And any team want JVR? Just give up a top line dman in the deal.

Maybe some day we'll have a real goal scorer again. Maybe

Sure thing, just give up Brodin or Dumba in a deal revolving around you guys getting JVR.

^On a team with players who can actually get the puck, JVR is easily a 30 goal scorer.....This year alone, he already has 8 goals in 17 games, all while averaging like 15 mins a game.

Don't look now, but Leafs have won 6 of their last 8 games. And outscored opponents 19-10 in that stretch. Really, Leafs have only had 3 ugly losses as a whole this season so far(4 of their 9 losses were just by 1 goal), so nice "moral victory" for this young team who isn't expected to do much, but are currently on pace for 91 points)

30 is probably his ceiling. That is if he doesn't miss half the season.

Better start scoring goals unless we think a .952 save percentage is sustainable.
