Hank money99 always says this. I agree more scoring is better.

Maybe you guys know the rules better. But doesn't Crosby get the puck first. Then Overvch gets tripped. And can't it be argued that Overvch staked into Crosby stick?

      Just asking here.

This type of score happened about a dozen times PER SEASON from the 70s until mid 90s! Since then it's happened just 5 times total!

Hockey wants to be bigger, create more superstars, appeal to more fans? The answer is staring them right in the face!

More what happened with the feet. It's kind of like soccer where you can get the ball with a tackle but foul on the follow through. I thought he turned his skate into Ovechkin's foot, but I can definitely see why it wasn't called. It all happened so fast and was in OT where only blatant things get called.

The league can't just snap its fingers and say "All teams, be this offensively talented and have generational players on your team. Also, get every imaginable bounce around the net go your way". Would be nice, but this is reality we're dealing with. Just enjoy that game as it was.

Yes, there are ways to increase scoring (bigger ice, bigger nets, less goalie equipment), but that game was full of good offensive play, but also a bunch of flukes. When you go back and look at a lot of the stuff before the magical days of the early 90s, you look at the defensive play and the goaltending and it's a complete joke. I'm all for exciting games, but not because one entire side of the equation is completely terrible.

Actually that's where I got the thinking from. In soccer if you get the ball first. The after that is all good from what I remember.

A common misconception even among soccer players. Getting the ball does not always negate the foul.

You will see it in hockey where the player will get more a benefit of the doubt if they poke the puck away but the follow through trips a player after the puck is gone. I think what happens with the puck here and the trip were two different things.

Soccer used to be better but now geared toward attackers. As I played defense always slide tackle it was legal as long as you got the ball first as it was hard enough to time the tackle running full speed and making sure you didn't miss the ball or attacker got by you were at risk being out of play completely.. I always believe in any sport it should benefit a defender if you get the ball first as playing defense is slightly harder since you are always reacting and attackers know what they are going to do ..

God, I hate playing the Devils. They always play us tough, and it seems like weird **** always happens when we play them.

That Spurgeon goal was worth the loss. I've watched a lot of hockey in my time and I've never seen that.

Leafs now 1pt back of Bruins for 2nd in the division. They also have 5 games in hand on them. Leafs and Sens tied for 3rd in division, but leafs win tie breaker. Sens tied with Flyers for WC and have 4 games in hand on them.

Trade deadline is too late in season. But who knows what anyone does. Leafs could be 2nd in Atlantic come March and still trade multiple main roster guys.

I thought it you touch the puck first you can trip them in the process. ?

It looks like losing Elliot has hurt the Blues. Along with Allen not playing nearly as well as he did last year. Although I haven't watched much of them this year so maybe their defense is just failing for some reason.

But they're in danger of falling out of the top 3 and into "fighting for a wild card spot" territory. Pretty big downturn for them so far this season.

Hope they enjoy that territory. We kept it warm for the past decade.
