I have stopped trying to make sense of what the Wild are doing this season. Just along for the ride.

But holy ****, is Brock Faber good. He came in for the last two games of the season last year, played in the playoffs, and has looked like he's been playing in the NHL for 15 years from the start.

I wonder what trade options they've even thought of. The only major move I even care to see them make is for a goalie.

Would've been amazed if it wasn't the lowest-ever, TBH. Neither of those teams has star power or much of a national footprint. I like SAFECO or whatever the hell it's called these days, but it's not an iconic venue. Neutral fans don't really care much about outdoor games any more.

As punishment, we're going to be subjected to the (ugh) Blackhawks in the 2025 Winter Classic, likely facing one of the Kings, Leafs, or Avs. Probably a Panthers/Lightning Stadium Series game as well.

Hey, the World Juniors are in St. Paul in 2026. Might have to check that out.

Looks like the US are about to take home the gold.

Seems like a massive oversight that the WJC has only been hosted by Minnesota once in the last 40 years. And even that year (2005) was as a co-host where North Dakota got all the good matchups. Weird.

EDIT: Thief River Falls is an A-1 name for a Midwest/Prairie hockey town

Looks like the US are about to take home the gold.

Not looking forward to the existential crisis up here when the US wins Olympic gold in 2026. (Americans will win the homeless man's World Cup in 2025 as well.) The late 90s sucked.

I rarely bet (and never bet online), but the 1st place Jets are currently +2700 to win the Cup on FanDuel, Jesus. By contrast, Winnipeg are +950 on Bet365.

(Moot for me since FanDuel is only legal in Ontario within Canada, but still.)

Such a weird host tandem. Thief River Falls has a population of under 9,000, and there isn't even a major highway that goes directly from it to Grand Forks, ND. The reason ND got all the good games is because of Ralph Engelstad Arena where UND plays. It's nicer than a lot of NHL rinks.

Having it in St. Paul is a no-brainer, it's going to be very well-attended. Honestly can't believe it hasn't been there since 1982 (when I was about 2 1/2 months old). Get a load of some of the cities it was played in that year: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982_W..._Championships
