I'll go on the record saying the Canucks/Flames trade is a good deal for both sides.

Vancouver's in such a weird spot with their cap next year: Pettersson and Hronek are due huge raises, half the D (Myers, Cole, Zadorov) and bottom 6 (Lafferty, Joshua, Blueger) are UFA, and the ghost of OEL will start haunting the Canucks ($2.4M dead cap in 24/25, $4.6M in each of the following 2 seasons, then $2.3M through the summer of 2031, LOL). Boeser has one year left, Demko two, Hughes three. Unless Willander and Lekkerimaki turn into elite contributors during their ELC, I don't see how this is going to work.

So this season is more likely a unicorn than the opening of a championship window. If this is the best (and probably only) chance for Vancouver's core, might as well roll the dice. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

(Yes, I know there's a 50/50 chance of this ending with a 1st-round 7-game loss.)

It's the NHL.

The Leafs will get in. Oilers get in. Canucks win division. Jets get in and maybe win division.

And just like that the SCF will be Dallas vs Carolina while the Hawks win the lottery again and the Coyotes unveil their new arena plans if their latest proposal gets approved by whatever city they try building an arena in.

I don't get why teams can't just have ASG jerseys modelled after the team itself.

Leafs especially, you could have a white, blue, green and black team. All represents diff jerseys/styles in their history.

What's the reasoning for ASGs being on a Saturday afternoon? Are TV ratings really better for the NHL then vs Saturday night? Especially an ASG in Canada, you'd think they'd want Saturday night.

Because ABC has the US rights to the ASG, and they're showing Lakers/Knicks Saturday night and the Pro Bowl on Sunday, and US TV priorities supersede Canadian TV priorities 100 times out of 100, and this will never ever, ever change, regardless of where a game is being played. The same way that all Canucks/Leafs games are scheduled for the benefit of Eastern audiences, regardless of whether the games are played in Vancouver or Toronto.

Also, honest question: when was the last time the All-Star Game was played at night?

yeah Lakers/Knicks is gonna have priority over everything, kinda reminds me of the NFL taking over christmas, NBA is like fine, we'll take over NHL & NFL all star stuff, no one cares about those anyway, but lets see how the ratings go and figure it out from there

Pens win last night, got home from the game and saw it was 1-1 late in the 2nd period of the Oilers/Knights game. Figured if I stayed up and watched, Oilers would win, but if I went to bed the Knights would pull it out. Woke up to some fantastic news! Let's Go Pens!
