Leafs have literally had guys suspended for an entire series for doing way less.

Hope Stolarz is ok. Vomiting after a concussion and then taken out on a stretcher. That seems pretty serious. Some folks saying the puck that knocked his mask off was earlier may have been when he received a concussion or at least some head trauma. Bennett should sit at least a game for it. He made sure he got his elbow/forearm in to Stolarz head and neck area. Just dangerous situation overall.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Woll had no time to warm up. The explanation on tv is that the backup is allowed to warm up should the starter be taken out due to concussion protocol. But given the fact that he wasn't, it made them think Stolarz wasn't pulled by the concussion spotters. So the Leafs pulled him on their own because they knew he had a concussion but the spotters didn't? But if the concussion happened earlier on, how did nobody notice, and if it happened with that hit, how did no penalty or anything come of it?
A fight is definitely happening at puck drop. Bennett has a history of dirty hits like this, including taking Knies out in their 2023 series, also with no disciplinary action. But we all know the Leafs have had guys like Kadri and Bunting and Kadri suspended over lesser moments that didn't even have the guy on the receiving end miss a shift.
And speaking of concussion spotters, they missed Stolarz, but they took Tavares out in that game vs the Sens even though he was fine, and he ended up missing that overtime? Makes no sense that you look at the Tavares one and think it's protocol worthy but the Stolarz one wasn't.Comment

Somethings not right here.

Leafs absolutely need to send out guys who can knuckle up. And if the refs aren’t careful, it could get out of hand quickly. Leafs won’t keep taking it.
Leave it to the Panthers to have me defending the freakin’ Leafs! LolNHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Probably did that to Tavares as overcompensation. Do concussion spotters typically monitor when a goalie takes a puck off the mask? That was the clip I saw that Stolarz did some head shake. It wouldn’t surprise me if they let it slide (it’s the playoffs!) and just so happened a little later he gets walloped by Bennett, adding injury to injury. Now I’m sure there will be fingers pointed or protocol reviewed.

We have Tie Domi and Edge in the crowd.
Can the Leafs sign them to a 1 shift contract and go after the Panthers?
Not even 2 mins in and Panthers charging the crease.
Then Woll goes behind the net to get the puck and Panthers charge at him from behind and trip him.
No call of course.Comment

I'm stunned the Leafs won that game but as someone who doesn't care about the Leafs but at least wants them to get to an ECF at least one time with a squad this good, it was fun to see.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.👍 1Comment

Leafs so far have shown lots of bounce back which is something they haven't done in the past.
The main thing to work on is obviously the powerplay. At this point if nothings working, just split up the units and try something new because the "pass first, think second, shoot third" mentality hasn't been doing them favours at all.
It's such a weird spot to see the Leafs in. If they were to lose a series, this would definitely be a way they haven't lost before with this core, which would be on brand for how the core loses (every year is a cruel/tragically different way from a past year). But right now they're in a spot they haven't been in for almost 25 years (winning a 2nd game in the 2nd round), and a spot that in general they haven't been in for even more decades (up 2-0 in a non 1st round series).Comment

I'm rooting against Vegas, but that non-call on Arvidsson was insane. I'd be going nuclear if that happened against the Canucks.

Leafs score 23 seconds into game 3 in Florida.
It's now 2-0!
Things going the Leafs way....What kind of crazy timeline is this!?
Panthers acting like sore losers and keep trying to take cheap shots and charge towards the net. You know it's bad when hockey social media is actually uniting on the Leafs side against the Panthers.
Edit-From 2-0 to now 4-3 Panthers. This is why we can't have nice things.Last edited by Majingir; 05-09-2025, 08:59 PM.Comment
