Online sports fans tend to focus on the negative (myself included), so I just want to give credit where credit is due: the quality/entertainment value of this series in particular, and the NHL in general, has been terrific. Rule changes and equipment limitations have had their desired effect. The league is awash in HOF offensive talent in their prime (McDavid, MacKinnon, Draisaitl, Kucherov, Matthews, Pastrnak, Makar, Hughes, etc.). The two faces of hockey in the last 20 years (Crosby and Ovechkin) have more than lived up to their initial hype and are still going strong in their twilight years. International best-on-best tournaments are finally back. To his credit, Bettman has resisted expanding the playoff field. Yes, there are nits to pick and there always will be, but game-in, game-out, the league is delivering an excellent on-ice product. The last 5-7 seasons are my 2nd favourite NHL era (as a hockey fan, not as a Canucks fan, LOL).
Tops is still the 88/89 through 93/94 seasons, from the Gretzky trade until the 1st lockout. Perfect mix of multi-generational star power, high-powered offence, semi-credible goaltending (unlike the early 80s), huge playoff upsets, and occasional guilt-free mayhem, not to mention the golden age for hockey cards and video games.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. That Game 3 looked painfully familiar.
Don't try to beat the Bruins, I mean Panthers at their own game, Edmonton. It won't end well for you.Last edited by DrJones; 06-10-2025, 01:31 AM.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. *sigh*NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds
