I ordered my PS3 version from this place: http://www.365games.co.uk/

It's just taking too long for the PS3 version to come out in the States. Amazon UK wouldn't ship the game to me for whatever reason.

Mad Catz, official distributor of RC, is only shipping the 360 version here in the USA.

          Re: Rugby Challenge

Absolutely loving this game. I was on the fence (because of licensing and the fact that I still play Rugby 08), but am INCREDIBLY glad I Amazon'd it. I downloaded FIFA, PES and NHL and figured the best of the three would be a purchase, but they felt all too familiar and so I went with the one that I was curious about (yet unable to demo).

Fun game. Great presentation. Career mode that lets you play club AND country (nice) and the gameplay is fun. I love how I can gash the middle of the field a bit where as in Rugby 08 I'm always heading to the wings....

I'm playing on normal now, but will bump it up. The scrum system is GREAT. Rucks work well enough (even if they are a bit neat) and the lineout system is fresh. I also love how the kick slows down so I can FINALLY feel comfortable attempting drop goals. I hit three in a half with the Waratahs (my team of choice for no reason other than they were in the first rugby match I watched).

          HIGHLY recommended.
The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!

            Re: Rugby Challenge

I downloaded the Steam version a week or so ago and WOW. I am very, very impressed by the overall graphical quality, presentation, control and fun factor in Rugby Challenge. I wish Sidhe all the best and hopefully this series can become a regular facet on the international market for years to come.

            Some suggestions for future games:

            1. Full stat tracking in Career Mode with player-specific commentary. If one of my players is leading the league or his team in tries, tackles or drop kicks, I would like to know this either in the menu or via commentary.

            2. In-game stat overlays for specific players would also work to bring a new visual flair to the game, especially since the graphical overlays and replay camera angles seem to already look slick. Some more "TV styled" depth on this end would work perfectly. I'm impressed that the team sat in real-life production trucks to get a feel for the ebb and flow of televised games. It certainly shows, but hopefully this can only get better in forthcoming years.

            3. Multiple camera angles for cutscenes or real-time events. It almost gets a bit repetitive seeing the same pans, swoops or angles for scrums, kickoffs or player reaction shots. Minor but it helps to get a sense of dynamic variation (ala NBA 2K) going.

            4. Complete uniform customization. This would help us to edit the unlicensed teams to a level where they may closely resemble their real-life appearances, as well as getting our custom squads to a higher level of originality.

            5. A greater "franchise" feel to Career Mode, including player progression/regression either season-by-season or game-by-game. Also the ability to get hired/fired by teams around the world like the many soccer titles on the market today. Would also be nice to see players called up for international duty, et cetera. The framework for the mode is there, it would just be nice to see it a bit more fleshed out in years to come.

In a few short weeks, this has proven to be my surprise sports game of the year. I've followed the development of the game for a while now and I can not be happier with the end result. This series has tons of potential - I feel the gameplay is getting there and will improve in every subsequent title. The other game modes also give me a good feeling of optimism going forward. For what it's worth, the game is a fun and surprisingly addictive game in its current state, and far better than any other rugby game I've played here in the United States. A job well done, Sidhe.

Picked it up today and just two games in and so far I am blown away. Haven't even messed with settings yet. I thought there was an update supposed to be available though? I'm not getting prompted for any updates on NA 360 version. Great job Sidhe and Tru Blue!

Loving the game. There are a bunch of mechanical things that are a little wonky (like no mauls off of lineouts), but for a first-gen title it's an excellent foundation. Hopefully this series continues and we get another edition before too long.

The game is also gorgeous on the pc. Here are two screens from some games I played earlier (need to get a SA custom kit with the correct numbers)

Jumped into a career mode (club/country) and was 1-4 with the USA and 2-0 with the Waratahs....

Then I edited the Super 15 and realized that I needed to start over in Franchise if I wanted the changes....blech.

Anyway, The USA took their second chance at a world cup and went 4-1 in the group round. After getting destroyed by South Africa (38-7), I upset Argentina 14-0 and held them THREE times at the try line including two times in the last ten minutes....

Well, we have Australia next and I'm expecting to get demolished, but we will fight to the finish......

FUN FUN game. The two tries I had against Argentina were right up the middle and the offloads were perfectly timed until Fry broke through and took off for about 1/4 of the field.

Definitely. I was on the fence with this purchase and honestly was leaning the other way, but watched the World Cup final and decided to pull the trigger. I love the sport and wish it were more easy to find in America on tv, but the game is the perfect combo of fun and challenge for me.

I haven't had this much fun with a game that I wasn't gonna buy since NHL 07.....

The one unfortunate thing about career mode is that there isn't any real roster movement by cpu teams (signing new players, retirements, etc...) and if you sign any new players to your squad it just duplicates the player from the other team so you have two of the same player in your franchise game world.

I know that's a big deal and if it were the case in Madden or any other established franchise, I'd be throwing a fit. But seeing as there isn't any real stat tracking and I'm not incredibly familiar with any rugby players outside of the two teams I follow and noteable national names, it's not a problem for me. But if the next version doesn't have deeper stat tracking and all the whistles, I will definitley be sure to complain.

Between this and Madden, I'm as happy as I've been as a sports gamer in some time....

I agree, despite it's flaws I give them huge props on their first Rugby Union effort. Is it perfect? Far from it, but it is all we have and it is pretty damn good.
