Also, your forwards (numbers 1-8) will get tend to get more tired than your backs. Rugby isn't like soccer you can use all seven subs.

You will have to check the team you use, but normally numbers 16-19 on the bench are forward subs.

Normally, 16 is the reserve hooker, 17 is the reserve prop, 18 the reserve lock (or second row), and 19 is the back row sub and can cover positions 6-8.

Although it won't be an issue in this game because offsides and high tackles are the only penalties in the game, committing too many people to the breakdown can lead to penalties (side entry, going in off feet).

      Awesome, thanks guys.

I did definitely notice my forwards were the ones who always have no energy at the end of the game. It's all making sense now.

This is something which needs to be improved if they make a new game, the breakdown is too basic and isn't terribly realistic. There needs to be penalties given at the breakdown.

There is something of a trade-off between budget, manpower, design goals, and complexity. Our usability testing, resourcing, and design pillars directed us to focus on the fun-factor across a larger group of people and atmosphere over rugby technicalities in some areas. While this isn't ideal for everyone, and we would reevaluate some aspects if we were to develop the property further, it worked in best with what we were trying to achieve on this initial effort.

I really, really, really hope you guys are able to put out another effort. Such a great foundation to build on.

I completely understand mate, Sidhe isn't that big of a company and I don't imagine you would have the manpower or the budget to compare to the likes of EA Sports or 2K Sports. I think the game is great for a first effort, I'm just pointing out some things which could be looked at if/when you make a new game.

I hope you do make a new game, from what I had heard I think it sold quite well? You have a great foundation to build on like Krebstar said and there are so many people hoping for another game.

Rugby Challenge is a Rugby game.

Rugby League Live is a Rugby League game.

                    They are different sports.

Rugby Challenge isn't particularly good, but it's a Rugby game. If you want a Rugby game, get that. Rugby League Live, the original was ****, we'll see how the sequel goes. If you want a Rugby League game, that's your option. They aren't substitutes for each other.

To someone who doesn't know the differences between the two codes of rugby they won't really carry any great weight though. Someone not familiar with any form of rugby may adopt either with equal chances of enjoyment.

Until Rugby League Live is out there is no way for anyone to advise in the matter of which title will be preferable to a rugby novice.

Rugby Challenge is out and has had the price reduced on most territories. Rugby League Live 2 has not yet had a release date announced. When you want to play is a material point.

                        Whole heartedly disagree.

It's fairly simple to advise even before the game is out, if you want a Rugby game, you buy the Rugby game. If you want a League game, you buy the League game. If you're unclear on which you are after, look into the sports themselves to help you decide rather before spending your money.

They are not substitutes for each other, regardless of how well one may or may not know each code. Suggesting otherwise is a massive disservice to both codes.

Though the crazy offloading in Rugby Challenge made it feel like a Rugby League game at many times anyway.

I think not. For someone unfamiliar with, but interested in, rugby in general starting by playing whichever game has had the better reception from gamers or is readily available does no disservice to either code. Whether a game is wanted now or the gamer can wait no harm is done.

But once again you are acting as if the two games are a substitute for each other. They are not. They are two different sports. Trying to blur the two as "Rugby in general" is the disservice.

                                In this way.

Fact is they are different sports. In selecting which one you want, selecting which sport it is you want to actually be playing is a vital part of such a decision.

Given your involvement in Rugby Challenge you should be grateful this is the case because regardless of how good Rugby League Live may end up being, you still have the Rugby game and people who want a Rugby game will be best served purchasing your product if they are in search of a Rugby experience. If you want a Rugby game, you don't buy a League game, you buy the Rugby game. If you want a League game, you buy the League game, not a Rugby game.

natey2k4 (I recognize your name from hfboards? ) who is enquiring which he should purchase would be best served establishing what sport it is he would like to be purchasing a game of.
