    Re: Any reviews?

Just got the game tonight and the True Aim is a nice feature. Think it would make Online more fun when people aint shooting -60.

Gameinformer gave the 360 and PS3 versions an 8.75.

Good luck with that....if you do not get some accuracy attributes and putting attributes (PS3 version I am playing), you will be spraying the ball off the driver and putter all day long....

It could be so simple . . . you start on the Nationwide (or lesser tour) and then you have to progress through the Nationwide to Q school (or vice versa). As he says in his review your golfer should start as a beginner on this level, but not rated a "10".

Until they do this, I will be hard pressed to buy this game. Stop adding extra modes and fix your basic career system.

Not sure what Bill Abner is going on about, but there is not one shirt or other apparel that you have to buy in this game. And you do NOT have to play the Skills Challenge to build up your golfer. You could play Play Now rounds or start on the PGA TOUR right away if you wish. All the different gameplay modes offer similar XP for building up your golfer, so I beg to differ with Mr. Abner.

And I am not sure what is meant by the comment

That makes absolutely no sense to me. Try the game with a rental if you are unsure, but I am enjoying the changes they made this year and TOUR Pro playing in TrueAim is a step in the right direction for simulation users....

I've grown tired of throwig $ at annual EA sports games every year. For most of their sports series, I take a wait and see approach these days. I've saved some good coin over the past couple of years with this policy.

But you're still staring out at the bottom, with no skill at all (I think Bill referenced it to being like golfing in the 7th grade again). Why not have a bottom of the barrel PGA tour pro option who can actually hit the ball greater than 200 yards available? I don't want to play round after round or some silly exercise just to build up a character to compete on tour and that's the point.

He spells it out in the review and it's a good point.

Another unrelated question, are all courses unlocked from the start this year?

I just read through Abner's review and saw nothing about having to buy shirts, so I'm not sure why that came up. Anyway, I think the crux of what he's saying, without trying to put words in his mouth, is that you shouldn't even be allowed to take part in PGA tour events when your skills are at the very beginning stage. I kinda have to agree with this. I'd like to see some amateur events at the earlier stages of your career...even if they're filled out with fictional guys. I can definitely see how it would be frustrating playing against tour pros when your skills are minimal.

He also mentions that the AI scores are somewhat better this year. But it's a little troubling that he's seeing Mickleson shooting -19 at Bethpage in driving wind and rain conditions. So it seems that yeah, the AI scores are pretty artificial again this year even though they have come down some.

All in all I think he did a good job presenting his information. Whoever said that he talks about having to buy shirts and that stuff...I'm just not sure where you saw that in his review. As for me..I'm still undecided. I'm afraid this is going to have to be a rental first which will end up costing me more if I like it.

IGN review is up...and have to say it's pretty spot on with criticizing the commentary and the fact that it is time for a more robust change with the career mode, while also giving props to the True Aim and the Focus additions. I guess they weren't impressed much with the Ryder Cup.

I mentioned the whole shirts/equipment thing. I didn't mean to imply that Bill said it. I don't have this year's game, so I apologize if they took out the whole "buy a watch and upgrade your putting" mechanic that has been in past games.

Regardless, my point was more that I am tired of the way they do the career in this game. Why not do something like Road to The Show . . . you have a golfer in the minor leagues and have to go through the normal progression (Nationwide, Q school) to get to PGA Tour. Then you have to keep your card through the year.

                      That was my only point.

With the tutorial and club tuning you can drive 275+ within 15 minutes of starting the game and you can improve from there doing nothing but playing offline career mode.

Yeah but unless you put some XP into your putting skills then it's pointless to add power right away from the beginning because I found putting pretty inaccurate at the default level.

Most of the early "reviews" seem more like first impressions. This guy seems to have taken some time with the game:

I agree this review is great.

Very thorough, he goes over every feature.

I like the sound of True-Aim and Focus. I also like how CPU golfers get realistics scores. (As fun as Tiger Woods and CAG's going -35 all the time was.)

Im looking forward to my game arriving from Amazon.

                            The only thing that sounds aweful to me is this;

As XP is accumulated through free play, career, and skills challenge, your player level increases which then unlocks more items in the Pro Shop. But while XP is a change many have been waiting for, it is disappointing that items in the Pro Shop require either XP or Microsoft points to purchase. I am in complete disagreement that season earnings be nothing more than a measurement of season winnings and see this as a way to arbitrarily increase the amount of playtime required to obtain these items. Seems to me like EA did this to entice players to just take the easy road and spend money on these micro-transactions – something which I am not a fan of.
Between spending XP on attributes and Pro Shop items, the amount of time required to be at the same level as Tiger Woods will take around 20-30 hours of gameplay. A ton of time can be sunk into career mode but the amount of XP gained over the course of a round is a bit too low. Because of this, it may become daunting for some that so much time and effort is required.

                            That's a real bummer.

All that $$ you earned in last years title could be spent on clubs, shirts, hats, balls, etc etc. Now you have to spend the XP you earn.... XP which could be going towards your stats.... kinda lame.

So tour earnings are basically meaningless in TW11.

I have not spent a dime on microtransactions as they are NOT needed to power up and play this game. Play the Skills challenges in Beginner or Amateur mode, then when you finish them, play the highest XP skill challenge over and over (5000 XP) as it doubles once you have completed all of the challenges. 5000 XP does not take long to build your character quickly and buy items in the Pro shop with the XP, not cash.

I don't find it inaccurate, but the PS3 version, the analog stick is darned sensitive and since I just moved to the PS3 version in December, I am still not used to the wider range of motion of the DS3 controller. Building putting attributes definitely help with the sensitivity.
