By the way, I think tour pro is the way to go for me. I played on the Nationwide tour in conditions that were pretty easy (no crazy pins or super fast greens) and shot -4 at Greenbrier. I still had one 3 putt where I just plain missed an 8 footer. That felt pretty good for me, and the score isn't bad considering there wasn't much wind. I might have to bump up the AI scoring a touch (the best score was even).

I would like to also add, that it depends on the course your playing, as some of the greens with expert pin placement, are hard but not unrealistic.Comment

It is not broken. It is extremely hard at times and frustrating, but its not broken. Its all about tempo with the swing and it takes practice. I was 6 putting holes a lot , but I have become much better. It also helps to have your putting stats up and a good putter.Return of the MackComment

Re: Enough is enough, the putting is broken in this game!
Maybe next year EA will add automatic putting since when many complain about the difficulty, they in turn dumb their games down even more.
Some of you shouldn't be playing on the highest settings and instead put your ego aside and find the right setting for your abilities.Comment

How are they going to make the game more challenging on the higher difficulties?Last edited by Rules; 04-13-2011, 06:17 PM.Comment

Every year they just seem to purposely put in silly things just to piss off the sim guys like metered putting, rubberband AI and unrealistic AI scoring and then take years to take them out, and now this. If this isn't patched now then who knows when it will be corrected. Maybe by TW15?Comment

I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic or not but you don't ruin the game for everyone else because they want to get back at a very small minority who use those special joysticks and shoot -20 a round. Every sports game is broken online, just the nature of sports gaming and people finding glitches. You don't sacrifice the offline to try and fix it. At the very least you make it customizable for the user to set pin location difficulty in each round in career offline. And you have an AI scoring slider now so difficulty should not be a problem as it's all relative now.

Re: Enough is enough, the putting is broken in this game!
That is my point, they remove the sim side away from those of us to appeal to those who don't even like the sport. EA is not known to make anything customizable just look at their other games. Honestly, I am afraid to tell EA to fix anything especially touching the higher difficulty settings such as the one you brought up. Next year they will have the caddie putt the ball for us. Just saying it is better to deal with these crazy pin placements than to see them dumb down the game even further.
I opened this thread because I was so frustrated with putting but actually it was more of a case of me being frustrated by these 45% degree slopes on a 2 foot hill which if you're more than 30 feet away you can't even reach with a 100% swing. So to me the putting model is adversely affected because of the idiotic pin placements that litter most of the courses.Comment

Re: Enough is enough, the putting is broken in this game!
You seem to be confusing one with the other.
I don't know of any green in pro golf where players can't land on the green and not be strong enough to hit the ball up a hill (not talking about odd shaped greens where you don't have a direct line).
I'm pretty sure any one of us could at least get the ball past the hole even in the toughest green conditions.Go Sabres!Comment

The Predator is challenging, but that doesn't make it realistic.

The last time a course tried to trick out the greens was Shinnecock during the US Open 6 or 7 years ago as a cheap way to keep down scores because the US Open is supposed to have a reputation for tough courses. Even then they didn't put holes on slopes but dried out the greens so much that it literally was an ice rink and every pro shot over par except for one (Goosen) and many way over par. I remember guys like Ernie Els shooting in the high 70's and low 80's over the last 2 rounds and he played well from tee to green, it's just that all it took was a few putts hit just a bit too strongly and it rolled right off the green turning what would be birdie putts into triple bogeys.
Needless to say Shinnecock has not hosted one since and won't in the foreseeable future.Last edited by Seymour Scagnetti; 04-13-2011, 10:01 PM.Comment
