Yeah, all people need to do is fire up St Andrews with the hardest pin placement and the fastest green speed. Even on tour pro with the putting meter I had some 4 putts. I think it was #2 where if you missed the cup the ball will just roll back to your feet. That's miniature golf antics.

To be honest though we had the same problem in TW11.
    Go Sabres!

F-me I just did this and it is ridiculous. Though I was playing on Tournament and Expert but there is no way to guage how much to use to putt. I then switched over to the controller and used 3 click. Still is a serious problem. Now I understand the problem. I haven't played St. Andrews until now and that is insane.

question...when you guys are out playing on your local course, do you practice your putting stroke before your putts?

          St Andrews:

          Holes: Putts:
          1 3
          2 3
          3 2
          4 2
          5 2
          6 1
          7 4 Ridiculous
          8 2 Just missed a 43 ft putt with an 8" slope.
9 1 Easy 66 ft as it was pretty level. Yes......66 feet!

I remember hole 17 being at St Andrews being ridiculous last year and maybe a couple of others but most were manageable because I could win tourneys in the 4th round. This year it's increased tenfold on several different courses where's it's impossible to shoot under par the last round.

Backed out and went directly to the 17th. Not bad two putted this one. Missed an easy 8 footer as did not hit it clean.

If you're implying that we need practice then try playing St Andrews and Costa Novarino on expert pins on tourney mode and then get back to us and tell us how much practice is gonna help. It's not the putting it's the fact that no matter where you land it on the green, once you putt it and even barely miss it keeps rolling because the holes are set up on severe slopes. The holes are not on flat areas surrounded by dip in the green like every golf course in the world has them. They are located on the dip. It literally rolls back to where you were (even if your 20 feet away) if you are barely short or way past the hole if your 6 inches too long.

The green speed is the same for all 4 rounds. What happens is you will shoot 69, 70 and 68 the 1st 3 rounds and then end up shooting 82 the last round because it becomes a mini putt course where skill doesn't help you. Only luck. I actually holed a few putts where I missed and hit it past the hole and once it stopped it then rolled back several feet back into the hole. When is the last time you saw that happen.

                    Actually I'm not quite sure.

Obviously we all take practice stokes before putting which you can do on this game but that doesn't really resolve the issue being discussed.

Can you let me know what you are getting at? I'm curious.

Yeah they seemed to fix that one and screwed up a bunch of others on the course. Last year the 17th was right at the crest of a hill so if you missed a 3 foot putt and it went 6 inches past the hill, it rolled right back down the hill and you ended up with a 40 footer.

That is what happened on #2. I was originally around 22 feet out and it ended up rolling another 22 feet beyond when it should have stopped around the hole but it just kept picking up speed.

For awhile now the thread has been a discussion on pin placements.

You made a very bland comment about taking practice strokes before putting which really didn't make much sense to me and I was just hoping you could clarify a bit on what you meant.

im confused with the other putting thread then....

maybe change title of this one or start new thread about pin placements?
