You need to move the aiming spot past the hole by at least a foot, more on longer, uphill 'wet' putts.

I made a 79 ft putt yesterday on TPC @ San Antonio on fairly soft greens (it was after the rain). The slower you pull the putter back (with a fairly fast forward swing), the more power you'll putt with.

Yes, this too. Tempo is HUGE this year in putting. Quick putt motion for short, slow putt motion for long.

Sooo, do I just have to slow down the backswing for more power or move the circle past the hole more? Confusing....

I do both. If I know it's going to be uphill or on soft & wet greens, I aim the marker past the hole. But on your actual swing, use a slower tempo for the backswing and normal swing when you go forward.

Sorry for the confusion, fish! Smiley's right...but different people do different things that work for their style.

I try to keep my tempo/swing as consistent as possible, so I prefer to move the aiming marker back and forth to add or subtract distance so I can just use my 'normal' swing motion.

Experiment and see which you prefer to do.

Don't get worried fish, to me the putting in the rain is one of the worst parts of this game. It turns to putting on glue and you have to whack anything over 40 ft to even get it close. Over 60 ft and you might as well pitch from the green.

That's what I don't get. I guess the devs have never putted after rain or while it's raining. It really doesn't make that much of a difference. Oh well.....

Older games didn't have rain effects, that's right. But we all know that. You're attempting to create an argument by comparing apples to water balloons. Links has a slow setting, not a rain setting. The slow greens setting in Links is meant to emulate putting on a damp green. It's realistic. It's how greens play in or after a rain. Conversely, the slow or rain setting in TW is like putting on a green submerged in a half-inch of water. It's completely overdone and doesn't resemble in the slightest any green condition one might come across on a real golf course. That's the bottomline when comparing the two.

The 4th round is unplayable in this game. Completely broken.

Even on tour pro I 3-4 putt every green even if I get a close approach.

I'm convinced that devs no longer test there games. Why else would a game make it to release with issues as bad as 4th round pin placements? I don't care what EA or any other devs says, I refuse to believe they test these games. TW is not the only game that gets released these days with major issues. The ability to patch has caused this, they use the day one buyers as beta testers. Only problems here is that EA seems slow to release patches for TW, if at all. We may all be beta testing TW 13 as we speak (type).

Looks like there won't be a patch as the devs have not uttered a word on thier own forums since the game was released and even if there is one it will probably be minor as the goofy pin placements have been there for years and have increased instead of decreased.

So what I found out is of you change the rounds in your career mode from 4 rounds to 2 at the start of the season then at least instead of getting the hard and expert pins we get for the 3rd and 4th round it defaults to the easy and medium pin placements for the 2 rounds. There are a couple of carnival pins on medium but the vast majority are on the hard and especially expert level.

It's not perfect but better than nothing as there are enough tourneys to keep you busy even using 2 round tourneys.

Is there anyway to start a season over?

Nope, you have to either sim or play thru the current season and then you're able to change rounds at the the start of the new season.

The only way you can start over is with a new CAG and I don't think you would want to have to earn XP from scratch all over again.

Seymour - If you go the two round route do you know if The Masters is 2 or 4 rounds? The reason I'm holding out hope for four is that the sanctity of that tourny seemed to be preserved with the pin placements...
