for those looking to make TW04 challenging....

i got the game, immediately created myself, and beat up on people to get enough money to max out my stats and naturally thats a blast when trying to break all the records known to man, however, i can not lose with a character that good

    so.....

i created myself again LOL.....but this time w/ restrictions.....i only increased the distance attribute (i think its at 65) so my driver would show a distance of 285 yards at max.....all the other attributes are at the default 10% ( admittedly i got this idea from someone's post here on the OS boards, but i couldnt find it earlier in order to give proper credit, so i apologize for my blatant theft under the guise of an original idea)

then....for the gameplay setup, i changed to Custom play with
    Gale Force winds
    ALL helpers/aids at off, except:
swing aid on (simply because when i attempt a fade/draw, even WITH the aid, i shank and duckhook like its going outa style)
    putting grid on
    power boost on

two keys here that ive found are the spin and the wind/lie indicator......with spin off you're stuck with your shot once you hit it, forcing you to be accurate if you want to score well.....and with the wind/lie off, shot come up short, sail long, sail wide left and right.....and not to mention hitting out of the rough or sand (without knowing how much to club up) really can make you pay

just throwing this out there for those who may want to give it a shot

one final thing....my created character with maxed stats has a scoring avg. of mid 50's, the new one with only the distance increased was, as of this morning, 70.2.....naturally, a lot of people are much better than me at this game, but playing like this has rejuvenated me

    cheers

Agreed although you dont have to have that dramatic of a wind change for the challenge.

I think you were referring to my post on leaving the attributes normal, except for the drive. Then you "create" a style of golfer. One that has a predominate "draw or fade" in his/her swing and go through the who round hitting each drive and approach with a "draw or fade".

Agree it helps to leave the swinging aid on at the first to get used to it. Also spend some time practicing your drives and approach shots, as you will have to get used to the new distance a shot will go hitting a fade or draw.

I have been using this method for a few days and it can keep you near par or over par until you get the hang of it.

Slugox - How did you get your attributes up that high this quickly? Maybe I'm playing the game a lot less than others, but my created golfer is still in the 40's for all his attributes. I usually only play 2 hours/day though because of work. What's the quickest way to get more $$$ for attributes?

interesting idea with the draw/fade.....im so terrible at those it could get ugly real quick LOL....if my current method proves too easy, ill definitely give your idea a shot.....all i know is as soon as i made those changes, i went to play a round of stroke play at Bethpage and i was scrambling the entire round, it was brutal, and yet i loved it LOL

cudos to you on the attribute idea, since i know now where the props belong......good call
