Re: Tiger's Ex-Caddie: "I've never had a bigger win..."
It's ridiculous how much piling on is going on regarding Tiger Woods.
A lot of these people who are kicking him while he's down have benefitted and will continue to benefit big time from what Tiger did for the game.
It's pretty sad if you ask me. I hope he is able to come back and stick it to all the golfers, caddies, golf media, and fickle "fans" that feel like it's necessary to chime in so much. -

I agree with Dan Patrick on this.
I have no sympathy for either of them.Comment

Re: Tiger's Ex-Caddie: "I've never had a bigger win..."
It goes beyond just these comments. It's the media always trying to drum something up because Tiger = ratings. Then all these people involved with golf are forgetting who is the reason their purses are so high, sponsors stayed on when the economy tanked, and the reason any non-major tournament could ever pull decent TV ratings.
How soon they forget apparently. I don't want to come off as some super Tiger fan because I'm not. But it just gets a little old when you see guys like Bubba Watson taking little potshots. The guy hasn't even qualified for as many majors as Tiger has won.Comment

Re: Tiger's Ex-Caddie: "I've never had a bigger win..."
If Dan Patrick said that, he's right on the money. Woods messed up and the caddie is just lying and being an idiot......
But just as bad is the fact that this is even a story. I hope Woods can regain his form and get back on top of things again....it's good for the sport. The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!Comment

That's what I'm trying to say. You just said it in a nicer and more concise way, lol.Comment

Re: Tiger's Ex-Caddie: "I've never had a bigger win..."
Tiger does have a history of this though. Firing people when he thinks they are making too much money off of him. Fluff, Harmon, Haney...etc. But I think it was deeper than that.
Me and my dad had a pretty good discussion about this, on whether is was right or wrong. I brought up the point that I feel there is a sense of loyalty between player and caddie, especially when their relationship has grown over that period of time. The fact that Williams even ASKED to caddie for another player, in my eyes, shows a lack of trust and loyalty, and definitely wouldn't be something that would make me happy. I think that Tiger felt like that was a stab in the back, to even ASK him that, showed Tiger that Williams heart wasn't in it anymore or that he didn't trust Tiger anymore, even after all that they have accomplished together.
Do I think that either one is right or wrong? No, because we don't know what happened behind closed doors, but the comments Williams made were ridiculous.
I do agree that the criticism Tiger takes is unmatched aside from probably LeBron James. It's like the guy is down and the media just keeps on kicking him. Picking him apart every chance they get. I feel like they want him to be the bad guy and they are trying to force McIlroy into being the new poster boy of golf, which I can't stand personally.
Perfect example. The McIlroy twitter incident. If that would of been Tiger, they would of RIPPED him apart, but it was Rory, so they laughed it off and commended him for honesty and standing by his opinion.
Personally, I'm still rooting for Tiger and hope he comes back and shuts everyone up.Comment

Re: Tiger's Ex-Caddie: "I've never had a bigger win..."
I have to agree with Rose. I like Tiger. He is the reason I started watching golf a lot on TV. It was absolutely awesome to see someone dominate a sport, much like Jordan in basketball and Gretzky in hockey. Now he made a mistake, that is life and the media will not let him recover because the story everyone wants to hear right now is Tiger Woods' and how he destroyed his life.
To be completely honest, when Tiger was injured and not playing, I don't think I watched maybe 3 rounds of golf on TV, there is just no story line I choose to follow. Now you can say what you want about Tiger, but I bet last weekends golf had many, many more viewers than the 2 before that and that is because Tiger sells!!!
As for Williams, Tiger made you a millionaire and you asked to caddie for someone else. That shows zero loyalty! If you make millions of dollars and can't handle 3 months of no income, then you have issues!!! And to say how he said just shows how much of an *** he is. Honestly, when he caddies for Scott while still employed for Tiger, did anyone not see his firing coming??
Tiger is golf in the US. McIlroy definitely will be a posterboy in Europe, but he doesn't have what Tiger had and that is mental dominance over an entire sport.
Hopefully Tiger comes back to where he was, even just for a little bit to break Nicklaus' records, because I would hate for something in his personal life to be the story about his career.Comment

What does that even mean? I don't think either of them were looking for sympathy.

Re: Tiger's Ex-Caddie: "I've never had a bigger win..."
Of course it is primarily media driven, but Stevie knows how to stoke the fire. I am sure a book is coming out down the line, and he is acting as if he is a victim. If Stevie was a caddy for anyone else, no one would know his name. Stevie should be thankful that Tiger made him famous.
I think once it all dies down, that he'll realize how ridiculous he sounded. I think it's all pretty raw right now.Comment

The people that are so quick to rip him apart and try to destroy him, are the first to put his every shot on TV so they can profit from him.
It's ridiculous how money can change people and Williams really comes off as money hungry in this whole situation. Especially with the comment about his family struggles during this 2 year battle. Really Steve? You mean the millions of dollars Tiger won you wasn't enough to hold you over while your bread winner got healthy and dealt with his personal issues? Give me a break.
Like speels said, if it wasn't for Woods, no one would even know who Steve Williams was. Players he caddied for before Tiger:
-Peter Thompson
-Ian Baker-Finch
-Greg Norman
-Raymond Floyd
Not exactly a star studded cast. Even Norman fired him. Guy should be kissing the ground Tiger walks on.
I can definitely see a book coming from Williams after all this unfolds.Comment

Re: Tiger's Ex-Caddie: "I've never had a bigger win..."
Actually, those three guys were very well known in the 80's/90's. So Williams was doing pretty darn well before he took Tiger's job. His time on Tiger's bag should have given him financial security for the rest of his life - and certainly more than 2 years. He's starting to get into Latrell Spreewell territory with his comments.Comment

Pretty sure steve said it was his best week ever. The support from his family, fans and friends, and the transition to a new bag.
If he actually said win, then i apologize, but I'm certain he said week.Comment
