Re: Tiger's Ex-Caddie: "I've never had a bigger win..."
Actually, those three guys were very well known in the 80's/90's. So Williams was doing pretty darn well before he took Tiger's job. His time on Tiger's bag should have given him financial security for the rest of his life - and certainly more than 2 years. He's starting to get into Latrell Spreewell territory with his comments.
Personally I think he should have done everything possible to keep riding the money train but it's not like he was a guy unable to find high level work before Tiger came along.Comment

That's what I was thinking... But I have to say it was pretty dang funny watching Stevie stalking the fairways as if to say, "I've never pulled covers off clubs like this! And the bag feels so light today! I brought my A++ game today!"Comment

Of course we're in bizarro world. People never cease to amaze me.
If he wasn't Tiger's caddy would anyone know who the heck he was? I know I wouldn't."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Re: Tiger's Ex-Caddie: "I've never had a bigger win..."
I was one of the few who didn't like him from day one.
And no, I'm not a 'h8-er' who dislikes all great athletes simply because "I'm jealous".
He always came across as arrogant, selfish and fake to me. When I read about him skipping his child's Christening so he could play golf (not a pro tourney, just a round with buddies), I knew this guy was a douche.
So when his transgressions were revealed, I wasn't surprised in the least.
I don't get the sense that Williams is piling on. I get the sense that he's angry at Woods for stabbing him in the back.
I don't think it takes a genius to realize that Williams protected Woods from a lot of crap. He more than likely knew all about Woods partying. And when someone had to act like a bully on the course, Williams would do that for Woods too.
So when Woods decides to take some time off and then gets mad when Williams wants to continue doing what he loves to do, it doesn't take a genius to figure out there would be hard feelings.
Williams has stated he'll write a book one day and then we'll find out all the dirt.
Woods may have been a great golfer at one time, but it wouldn't have happened if guys like Williams weren't protecting him.
We're all getting a great look at how weak Woods is mentally now that his shield's are down.
Nobody thinks he's a great guy anymore and his branding power is in the toilet (lower than Paulie Shore at the moment - seriously).
I doubt he'll win more than 1 more major in his career. He's finished and he has only himself to blame. He's hurt everyone in his life that actually cared for him.
I hope Woods never wins another major. And I hope his legacy continues to be a living punchline.Comment

I'm not accusing you of being a *****, but honestly wishing bad on someone and their career makes you sound like one. If you are one, admit it. I'm indifferent, seeing I've come across many in my life as a Tiger fan.Comment

Like the guy or not, he's the greatest golfer ever, and probably has about 5 more majors in him.
EDIT: "I hope Woods never wins another major. And I hope his legacy continues to be a living punchline."
I missed that quote on my first read through. So because you don't like the guy's personality, you make this statement. And yet claim not to be an abhorrer. Das not compute.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 08-10-2011, 02:19 PM.Comment

You can't seriously believe this statement.

I don't hate him because he was a great golfer. I hate him because he's smug and a complete a'hole off the course.
But still currently the highest grossing athlete in sports? Hmm. The same reason that ratings when Tiger is off the course are much lower than when he is on it. His branding power still reigns over the PGA. One reason why all the players want him back on tour because it brings attendance and the purses UP.
I'm not accusing you of being a *****, but honestly wishing bad on someone and their career makes you sound like one. If you are one, admit it. I'm indifferent, seeing I've come across many in my life as a Tiger fan.
At Wood's peak, he was rated 9th in the world. That's incredible because normally the top 10 are packed full of actors, musicians or dignataries. To get an idea, I believe Oprah was usually in the top 3.
In a recent book I read on Washington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin, it was revealed that after Woods affairs were revealed he went from 9th into the mid 2000's. At that time, he was literally behind Paulie Shore for marketability.
Woods still earns a great deal based on contracts he signed prior to Elin using his face as a Titleist 3.
Before that, you saw his face on several products and commercials. Since then, where have you seen him?
I haven't seen him on one commercial; Nike, Gatorade, Gillette, etc.
In fact, he's been dropped by mostly everyone. EA continues to use him as their coverboy, but they don't go out of their way to associate the game with him like they used to.
And yes, I do hope his career continues to spiral down. Unlike lovers of Woods, I don't want him to do well because he used to be able to hit a small white ball better than anyone else.
The guy wrecked his family.
Like it or not, there are fans out there who do associate the athletes private life with their professional one.
Woods knows this better than anyone as he did a maticulous job of fooling the public into believing he was this incredible family man.
He had an Australian interview prior to the scandal where he went on and on about how important his family was.
Whatever Woods. You missed both your kids Christenings and you continue to miss birthdays too.
He's a bad person and that makes a difference in my eyes.
For those that can look past that, fine. But saying that, I wonder how people will treat him 2 years from now when he still hasn't won another major and continues to stink it up in every tournament he plays in.
Aside from that I've seen no evidence that suggests he can get his game back to where it was before.
2 good finishes at the Masters aside, he's been a complete disaster in every other tournament and with his body starting to break down, I don't think he'll win another Major. Certainly not multiple ones.Last edited by Money99; 08-10-2011, 02:34 PM.Comment

Re: Tiger's Ex-Caddie: "I've never had a bigger win..."
Woods is hardly the first athlete to have these types of transgressions. Difference is, he got caught and had more mass appeal than just about any other athlete.
You seem to not be able to get past that, but if you follow any team sport, you're cheering for a hanful of dirtbags no matter what team it is.Comment

And if I found out some of my favorite's were idiots like Woods, I'd definitely like them less too.
But the fact remains we know what Woods is. And like I stated, I didn't like his smug attitude before or his poor behavior on the course. If he acted like Happy Gilmore, that's one thing. But he routinely acts like a spoiled brat who didn't get a toy during a trip at Toys R Us.
I'll continue to root against him for those reasons, just like others will root for him because he used to be good.
To each his own.
Cheers.Comment
