If you don't want to pay the price for the extra courses.... You don't have to. I am going to pay the $5 to help extend the life out of a game I enjoy. It is simply $5 folks.

$5 gets you a hamburger, fries and a drink at most place
$5 rents you a couple movies
$5 does not even get you in to see a movie at most theaters
$5 buys me one and half cans of copenhagen

For me this $5 would be more bang for the buck then any of the above so I will pay.

When you payed the $49.99 you paid for what you got. There was never a gaurantee downloaded content would be free.

I mean Boycott? Tell you what you sit there and boycott all day long, waste you precious time fighting the power on internet message boards.

EDIT: And while I am on a bit of a rant it appears that you forget a foundation has to be layed to get all those courses to compare to Tiger Woods. You remeber how many courses were on the first Tiger Woods on the PS2? 3 courses.

Some of us paid for the foundation of all the courses that you tightwads got in your 10 pack discs for future versions of Links on the PC.

Anyone else remember paying $19.99 (I think that was the price) for an extra course back in the Links 386/Pro days? I know I did for most all of them, still have the 3.5 discs to show for it.

I have to agree. If MS released a 6 course disk for $30 I would be pre-ordering. So $5 for one course is fine by me. I love the game and look forward to adding new courses.

I paid $5 for a pretty ****ty lunch today and I am going to crap that out in a few hours. The course will last me a hell ofa lot longer than that

I will not pay for a 'downloadable' course. I would consider paying for a pack of courses on a CD. Until Microsoft does something better with buying for XBL I will withhold. I dont actively use credit cards and the one I have on my XBL account I cancelled as soon as I validated my subscription, as I dont want to allow Microsoft to do what they want at will.

your missing the whole point... your allowing other companies to see that you will pay for downloadable content. I don't want to have to pay for additional content in other games, let alone this one. Never did Microsoft say that Links downloadable content had to be paid for, when the game came out. As a matter of fact, they just mentioned it, conveniently. But he has the laid the bait, as so far, it looks like people are biting.

Eventually, if companies see that people don't pay for downloadable content, it isn't going to be free, they just won't add it. In a way, that might be a good thing, as companies won't be able to sell the bare minumum for $50, and then charge for lots of content, but don't think by boycotting you are going to keep dowloadable content, and keep it free.

Ah, just so stir the crap some more...

I think they are in their right to charge $$ for a course. Just as you are in your right to purchase it or not. I don't buy the "it should be free!" argument.

As a previous poster said, you used to pay $20 for a new course and a new golfer skin........ but nowadays everyone is so used to pirating and getting stuff for free that no one wants to pay anything anymore.

So, my advice? If you want it, get it. If you don't, don't! I see expansion packs, etc. for RPGs and RTS games all the time in EB, and they charge $30 for them! (Canadian anyway.......)

I think the argument here is the difference between paying for an expansion pack, which most will probably purchase, and ONE course. I almost see it as to an euivalent of M$ charging for each new car in PGR2, or each new bot in mechassault.

I will throw this out to be part of the discussion. How do we know that these courses were not already on the block sitting waiting for timely intervals to be released, meaning that the courses were already done, but whomever decided that they can make a few more bucks if they released half the courses when the game shipped, and sell the other half

I know , I know. I am making a big deal out of nothing. It just worries me in the direction this is going. Give me an expansion pack with 5 courses and new skins and new clubs for 20 bucks and i will purchase it. 5 bucks for 1 course is overkilll IMO.
