Usually I don't care about people's personal lives. But it's different with Tiger.

He built and carefully curated a reputation of perfection. He had the perfect golf swing. The perfect temperament. The perfect family life. A squeaky clean machine.

That was all a big lie. And when his house of cards came tumbling, he ran from the truth. The only thing that forced him to fess up was commercial pressure from losing lucrative sponsors.

I have ZERO respect for a man like that. None.

Still, he is the second-greatest player of all time, IMO. Still has a chance to become the GOAT if he can surpass Jack's total of major victories.

And I cannot deny Tiger's influence on growing the game of golf through his brilliance. Easily the most influential golfer among the public and spawning interest in the game and new players since Arnold Palmer in the 1960s, with Arnie's Army.

Serious question for you. Were you? I've been to both your facebook page and twitter page and it certainly doesn't look like you would have been of age to actively be following him through his prime through newspapers (since there weren't regular golf presentations when that was occurring).

On a separate note, I'm not a racing fan but it looks like you have a pretty cool gig.

I am old enough to have seen the very tail end of Snead and Hogan as well obviously to see the Big 3 in their heyday. That 10 year stretch of Tiger's is pretty much equal to anything anyone else ever did.

No majors in his 30's by Tiger makes Jack's record a tough get.

I am old enough to have seen the very tail end of Snead and Hogan as well obviously to see the Big 3 in their heyday. That 10 year stretch of Tiger's is pretty much equal to anything anyone else ever did.

Not to mention Tiger was #1 OWGR for 683 weeks, 281 of those consecutively.

Talk about dominance.

I’m thinking neither of those records are broken.

Not sure how that compares to Jack, but IF Tiger gets 4-5 more Majors, the he will be the GOAT on the course.

Of the course e has become more humble and doesn’t seem to be as arrogant as the he was at the end of his initial dominance. We will see if he returns to OWGR #1, if that humbleness and kinder demeanor stays with him. I have to think he realizes he is AWFULLY darn lucky he is playing again and playing well, but more importantly his health seems to be holding up well so far.

Way ahead of where I thought he would be at this time. Considering the first two rounds I think you can make a case Tiger was the second best player out there at Sawgrass.

Getting closer. I give Tiger half a shot to catch Jack now that a bunch of the young lions have showed weakness under pressure. Needs to win at Augusta in 2019 though.

I agree that it's amazing that he had a solo lead with 9 holes to go at Carnoustie, but that is a HECK of a long way away from winning 4-5 more majors. There are only 4 a year and he ain't getting any younger....

Very true.....but he is not your average 42 year old golfer even with the rash of injuries.

If he can manage to play injury free a few more years, he has a shot at catching Jack.

Personally, I am just happy seeing him play again and be relevant again on Sunday. He will win tournaments with the game he has. Might be a good bet this weekend since 8 of his 79 came at Firestone. I think he's got the game to win Majors again, he needs to get that first win back under his belt and then look out because I think he wants to beat Jacks record, but I don't think it means as much as it did before all his personal and health issues destroyed the past five years of his competitive life.

When he looks back at this tournament, he won’t think about those 2 holes. He’ll think about the 9 pars he had on the back 9 of the third round. He could have easily shot 4 strokes better on that 9.

I disagree. He started the tournament 3 over after the first two holes. You did see the graphic CBS posted on how the field played the first 3 holes right? So right from the jump Tiger is chasing the field and was lucky to come in even after Round 1. Pars don't hurt it's bogies and doubles that kill you. Remarkable he was able to shoot 64 and hit nearly every driver into the parking lot. Speaks to how well he's hitting his irons now from the fairway. Nearly as accurate as he was 15-20 years ago.

He needs to put up a good first round score to take some of the pressure off.
