Lots of people still play it today, and EA even still had the servers left on for it the last time I played.

Great game let's hope EA hasn't lost their taste for the gold video game space.

Thanks for the suggestion! It's strange how golf games seem to have basically died out over the last few years. I figured they were there, I just wasn't looking for them. Now that I'm looking, they're really hard to find!

I think Rory McIlroy had potential but EA basically put no effort into the game at launch, and then when it (predictably) didn't do well, they pulled the plug. Self-fulfilling prophecy, essentially.

Anyway, PGA2K21 is what we've got for now, so we'll see how it goes. Whatever the outcome, I think it's pretty clear golf cannot be annualized in the same way as football or basketball, so that right there takes away a lot of the incentive for publishers to invest in the sport. It's gaming in the 21st century: anything that isn't a thinly-veiled online casino that makes money in perpetuity is of no interest to big publishers. And there are only big publishers left.

Well yeah, they're being pushed by shareholders. I almost have some regrets, EA went from $90 to $140+ since mid march. And oh, they didn't even need a golf game.

TW14 has real life players on the leaderboards in career mode, correct?

My question would be is it possible to customize the players name so more recent golfers are on the leaderboards? Anyone know if that’s possible?

Yes, TW 14 has real life player names on the leaderboards. PGA 2K21 also has real names on the leaderboards in career mode. However, TW 14 has names like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Rory McIlroy, guys whose names will not be in 2K21.

Also, you cannot edit any names on the leaderboards in TW 14. You are also unable to edit names in career mode in PGA 2K21.
