I finally got the game last week on pc and am really enjoying it. Wish I'd got it sooner. I just don't understand how the leaderboard changing between rounds and different winners to the actual results hasn't been patched. Its a huge bug. Imagine playing FIFA or madden and the standings and results altering every time you switched on ?

I haven't really enjoyed a career mode in a golf game since PGA Championship Golf 2000. It allowed you to create attribute based AI players with whom you could play along with in your career mode rounds, where desired. Even when I didn't play along with them, I just got the sense that they would playing out their rounds, stroke-by-stroke, not producing total scores that seemed be more of a bell curve.

It's amazing to me that the career mode scoring can't be properly tracked and reported in this game, with it being nothing more than a spread sheet calculation. The numbers should already be there just waiting to be fetched and presented. It seems like they've actually gotten worse with this over time!? I'm glad I'm enjoying the Society play and occasionally some online match play because if my only option was career mode for competitive play in this game, I'd have abandoned it back in September!

Have to show respect for bringing up PGA 2000

One of my all time favorite games - of any genre.

Blows me away that 21 years later we don't have a golf game that is better in every way than PGA 2000

Well definitely see the issue with career mode, but will still have fun with it.

Using UABE, I was able to extract the text files and convert them to CSV to easily edit rosters. Will be going through and adjusting to the real life up to date roster since this way is super easy and quick with Excel.

I tightened up the skill values to try and get a "variety" but I simmed 3 seasons with varying settings and noticed #1 ranked golfer wins 6-7 events every time. (Bryson Dechambeau won 3 freaking events in a row season 2)

Now I did have a wide variety of leaderboards all 3 seasons that seemed pretty good, but I had a couple golfers with 5-7 wins every season. The rest had 1-3 which is just fine.

Maybe it will shrink if I actually play the events, but just testing before starting. Definitely nice seeing Tiger Woods winning some tournaments!

This is almost unacceptable. How in the world do you not notice this stuff in testing?

5 first place finishes for the first tournament of the season. That’s insane.



EDIT: Nevermind. Though I can edit the season tour file, information is stored on their server and will not let your changes take affect. Dumb...

I hate to keep harping on this, but the broken career mode really hurts this game for me. I keep giving it a shot, and it keeps letting me down!

Last night, I played the John Deere Classic. I play 2 round events, and ended up firing a second-round 61 to take what looked like a win. I even got the trophy screen:



However, the next screen showed Justin Thomas (surprise!) as the "real" winner:



But...this was the next screen I saw - JT dropped in the FedExCup standings???



And now this is what the John Deere Classic event looks like in the schedule...JT is nowhere to be found, but Patrick Cantlay just appeared out of thin air:



I mean, I am glad I got the "win", but these oddities and glitches remove any immersion. And they are on-going, with no fix apparent or even any acknowledgement from the devs that they know about this. It's very frustrating.

Yeah, I wish I realized how much career mode was broken before I bought this.. Unreal a game with the backing of 2K would be this broken. It's quite embarrassing.

Guess what? Career mode still has more surprises and fun to share! Now, after logging back into the mode after work today, look who DID win the John Deere Classic, all while Patrick Cantlay once again disappeared into the ether:



I mean, c'mon. This is such a terrible experience, and is one of the most disappointing single player modes I have ever played in a sports game.

Oy Vey!? Why is accurately depicting a leaderboard so bleeping difficult to get right... it's basic math and spreadsheet 101?? I'm embarrassed for them!

Reading that description of the "win" and then all the oddities that ensued, it really makes you wonder what code spaghetti is under the hood causing issues.

All of this really feeds into the need to build an all new version, from the ground up, for next-generation, which I really hope they are doing.

The visuals, the foundation of the modes and code -- do it right from the get go and eschew the shackles of issues likely dating back to decisions made in the TGC1 era.

Yet, it still says my last win is the John Deere Classic...

So I created an app that replicates the FedEx Cup System to a “T”. I bet they did what I had started originally and decided against it.

They used a RNG (with formulas for skill) which everyone knows, it’s obvious, to generate the rounds. The problem is what my app had, every time you’d log back in or the app had to “refresh”, it runs the random numbers again which causes different results like that. I just chose a a different approach because random generators can always cause issues like this if not kept under control.

Someone didn’t cut it off from running on events/rounds already played. That’s a big oversight in a game this size. My guess is someone made a bigger goof and it’s not as simple to fix so they aren’t bothering.

The fact they allowed ties for a finish is also insane. How hard would it have been to just simply add -1 to someone randomly if there were ties? Hell, if the user was involved, give them the win and back everyone up 1. I would rather have a playoff, but Atleast that is more accurate.

If I can make a 100% replicated fedex cup system with points and money, surely a team like HB studios can figure it out a little better than this.
