The whole community interaction thing is very time consuming, especially when you have a full time job of making a game in the day as well. But I'm quite personable and love a chat so it made it a little less like work while also getting a good insight into what players wanted.
Re the PP forums - I was never drunk - I just took exception to a lot of people bad mouthing something they hadn't played or couldn't feedback on with an open mind.
In an industry like Games - sales and perception is huge on keeping a team up and running and when you don't have a huge marketing budget that sort of gorilla marketing/brand protection is important. I don't want to see friends lose their job because Joe Bloggs is telling a forum of people that the game is rubbish - when they haven't even played it.

Hope all you guys are well

Great to hear from you with a take on golf games again Anthony! I'm "jcauthen04" from the HB Studios forum, FWIW. I'm enjoying PGA TOUR 2K21 quite a bit with the tempo component in the swing, but I would enjoy it a lot more if the tempo variable chiefly affected the pull/push factor, while the swing path determined the hook/slice. It's nice to have an added analogish dimension to the swing, however, so I'll take what we've got for now and hope that it may evolve into something that jives with my senses over time.

I want to congratulate you on the success of Fall Guys. I almost bought it for the PC, but I knew it would get a lot more action in my family room where an XBox One X and a 65" screen resides, so I'm holding off for the XBox version this summer.

A ton more probably doesn't need to be said about the disappointment that is the career mode in 2K21, but I just had to share this.

Lots of folks have said that Justin Thomas is overpowered in career mode. For me personally, I'd not seen JT dominate; instead, it was Adam Scott and Patrick Cantlay who won most events and pretty much always won the FedExCup thru my first few seasons.

Well, JT's time has come. I skip most non-real life or non-major events in career mode now, as I only want to play the real courses while trying to unlock the gear behind sponsorships. The early season has a stretch where I skip quite a few events in a row to get to the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Let's take a look at the four events leading up to TPC Scottsdale and see how the coverboy did:

JT just rolling thru the schedule here - he's won 4 of the 10 events in the season (he's played in all of them up to this point, not skipping any weeks as of yet) and has over 2,400 FedExCup points. Second place has 882. He also finished T3 in the Phoenix Open and solo 2nd at The Genesis Invitational.

Don't worry the results will probably change next time you log on with different winners at the events.

Hi mate, I know each of your handles on every forum don't worry
Fall Guys was definitely an unexpected success - more so than TGC. It was great for Mediatonic, I've actually left now and I've joined Splash Damage. So more exciting new IP to work on.

Yeah I really enjoyed the swing on Pro - I think they nailed it. I'm playing in a society with the HB guys on Sunday's and that fun we have doing that gets to the core of the vision I had at the start.
I'm not a fan of the implementation of the power bar - I think the course management of the game disappears because of it, because you can hit 40ft putts easily. But that's what a lot of people want - I'd have liked to have seen a little more creativity like the haptic feedback, that was very clever. But they sell more now, so what do I know

Ideally my dream would be to take a golf game away from the previous paths trodden. So none of the things that have become the norm but aren't realistic (scout cams, putt previews, power bars - removed) and make a very Caddy and Handicapped driven game. Where the career progression takes you from a 28 Handicapped golfer to a scratch golfer and into the Pro's. The courses then have massively detailed maps and a fog of war. Then as you progress through your career you unlock caddy knowledge as well as playing courses (fog burn, revealing more detail) rather than improving player attributes and in turn Making harder courses easier to play. It's a dream and a very niche market which that I'm sure would only appeal to me, so don't expect it to ever be released .
The beauty of societies in the TGC series is that you can sort of set them up to do that and you don't really need to worry about anyone other than you and your mates, which was always my intention when I put them in TGC2 - it's funny how they took a couple of iterations to stick but seem to be pretty popular now

Such a great concept. I would love it honestly.

It's a shame (but understandable due to market demands and sales concerns) that nobody builds a golf game around "how it is in real life".

All the different unrealistic ways to preview and scope out shots digitally just totally take away from what are supposed to be the real challenges of golf and course designs.

It'd be amazing to need to actually play courses more and in different conditions to really "learn the course" and build up a caddy book.

This concept sort of echoes how some flight simulation enthusiasts have Payware aircraft they have to go "digitally maintain" and fill with gas, etc

I can’t believe this hasn’t been patched. You’d think with a major competitor coming it may be important to keep current customers happy.

                  But what do I know?

I'm having a discussion on another forum about this, and it's just so stupid that the leaderboards in career mode are busted and not fixed. Especially when they were magically and all-of-a-sudden willing, even after 8 whole months, to cater to the TGC Tours crowd by nerfing red fasts via a server-side update.

I've just about given up on HB and PGA 2K. The red fast nerf update makes pitch shots even worthless than they were before. Now, when you hit a pitch with just a bit too fast of a tempo, it means you end up losing 20-30 yards of distance and come up way short of the green. It's completely unrealistic. So now the gameplay has regressed, while other issues remain.

The fact that career mode sits busted, while others say, "well maybe they'll fix it next game" means that I won't be buying that next game at all.

                      Re: Career mode 2k21 ?

I think 2K/HB can see from the server stats that career mode was never really played by the community, and if career mode was played then probably 9 out of 10 players only ever played one round per tournament.

The most serious problems occur when you play more than one round per tournament.

Under these circumstances one could say: 2K/HB is not interested in fixing the career mode.

I don't necessarily think all of the bold, underlined part is entirely true...you can see the total plays on "official" courses in the game - ones that are not real-life ones, but were ported from previous TGC games and added to career mode to round out the schedule. These are courses like "Katagowa Club" and "The Conservatory Club" or whatever they are called.

The only modes in 2K21 you can play these courses is in career mode or in local rounds (I suppose you could add them to Societies, but why you'd do that is beyond me - the courses created in 2K21 are miles better than these out of date ones).

They don't come up in matchmaking or anything like that. And many of these courses are in the top tier of the "Most Popular" filter in the course selection screen - people are playing a ton of rounds at these courses - in the millions - because they are part of the career mode schedule.

I do agree that perhaps a lot of folks are playing 1 round events. In the unlikely event I play career mode, I use 2 rounds per tourney, and that seems "OK", but the leaderboards still randomize no matter how many rounds you play, so it's all a moot point.
