Pretty sure 2K21 was announced in the May of 2020, but not released until late August. The social media team drip fed details of courses and non-playable pros a good while inbetween.Comment

Re: Luke Elvy appears to confirm PGA2k23 coming in August in radio interview
Yes, PGA 2K21 was announced on something like May 6, 2020 and was released on August 21, 2020.
I honestly still think PGA 2K23 or whatever is probably coming out in August. But what that says to me is that it's going to be a re-hash of 2K21 with very minimal adjustments to it.
The reason I say it's potentially still going to be an August release is purely conjecture on my part, but things within the 2K21 community have gotten very, very quiet recently. I also know that designers working with 2K/HB to create courses for the community showcase in the 2K21 matchmaking have completed their final courses for the game, so "official" courses made with 2K/HB input are essentially dried up.
Anyway, I wouldn't put it past them to have this be a quick turnaround from announcement to release as it is at this point. I am also thinking the only addition in terms of content to the game will be Tiger Woods in some capacity. I am getting the sense that not much will be changed to the game, based on rumblings by those closer to the development. Maybe a couple new official real courses or something, and maybe new items and fixes in career mode? IDK...I am just really getting the sinking feeling that 2K23 will be 2K21.2.
Another thing to just keep in mind, and it may be of no consequence, is that the TGCTours season has only 7 weeks left until it's over. They usually take a break following the release of a new game to set the difficulty and settings. But I would imagine they won't start another season until a new game is released...it would be odd for them to start the next season on 2K21, and then have 2K23 drop after a few weeks, and then have to stop the season in the middle of it. Just something I am keeping in mind with all this. While TGCTours isn't an official 2K/HB society or anything, they do have folks connected to the devs or at least in some kind of communication with them (some over there are in that NextMaker program which has amounted to ZILCH up to this point, but I digress), so it's just something to remember.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 07-05-2022, 12:54 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

I'm still not convinced this is the case - I think the game would have been announced long ago if it were not for the LIV thing - there's no way the PGA TOUR (or Tiger for that matter) will be wanting details of players, etc announced for the game until the very last minute, due to the possibility that they may not be Tour members by the time the game comes out. I might be wrong, but I'm not giving up hope of an improved game just yet.Comment

I do hope for an "improved game", too, but at this point I have no idea what that means. I don't think there will be a dramatic overhaul of anything...I mean, PGA 2K21 sold north of 2.5 million copies, so why fix a bunch of things? I am still assuming the biggest additions/changes will be related to Tiger Woods content. There may be some tweaks of gameplay, bug corrections, or several new adds to the designer, but I think it will mostly be similar to what 2K21 offered.
Looking at the track record of HB golf games, they don't really do dramatic changes or big-time overhauls. It's measured changes, and then a few updates after release. And that's it.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 07-05-2022, 10:36 AM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Oh I'm sure they're going to change lots of things again. Playing with swing mechanic and putting... the usual bunch will be happy because it's the best game ever, they're playing in the 80s again, 3 putting and can't get out of bunkers... while others will be complaining it's not like real golf... and others will say it was much better the way it used to be...
So after updating the game 2 months or so later, and then making adjustment server side to stop the complainer months after that, it will eventually be the same game as right now but with more contents.Comment

Oh really? Haha 🤭I just recall the hot dog. [emoji23]
Seriously want them to succeed and honestly go back towards the feel of the original TGCs with that pure golf feel.Comment

Re: Luke Elvy appears to confirm PGA2k23 coming in August in radio interview
It's kind of a problem with golf games. Once the swing mechanic is fixed, there are thousands gamers playing the game just about everyday until they mastered it. Then it becomes too easy and boring. A new game is needed but where do you go from there aside of just adding contents and better graphic? If it's the same swing mechanic, it will become boring in a hurry again. So the devs play around with tempo and adding tweaks here and there with the mechanic to make it feel like a new game. Then customers complains it's not right and here we go again.Last edited by bigkev; 07-05-2022, 10:47 PM.Comment

Re: Luke Elvy appears to confirm PGA2k23 coming in August in radio interview
But the biggest challenges for devs, it's for customers to keep buying the next game. So if it's the same game over and over again (swing mechanic), there's no real reason to buy a new game aside for contents / graphics. And if there's not enough customers buying a golf game, it means stop making golf game again like EA did.Comment
