Per his report, it is not pay to win, and they are easily accessible. You will never run out of them or need to wait for them to restock or anything like that.

This was also a huge concern of mine, and it seems that it was addressed and is not what I thought it would be...I was afraid it would be the WGT way of doing DLC, and that does not seem to be the case.

    That’s a little comforting I guess?…

But it begs tenge question of why is it even a element at all then?

Like any game, it's a way to try to get you to spend real money to buy things in-game.

Take MLB The Show...you don't have to spend any money to get packs or whatever for Diamond Dynasty. But if someone wants more packs or whatever, they could spend money and get them faster or more of them.

In PGA 2K21, I have tens of thousands of VC sitting unused that I earned just by playing the game. I bought all the clothes, clubs, etc. that I want using this earned VC. I didn't have to spend any money to get them...but I did spend money to get the Titleist stuff sooner by paying for the Clubhouse Pass season. It didn't give me any advantage...I could just get the items sooner.

It seems this will be the same with the golf balls. You can get them just by playing the game and earning VC, but can use VC you pay for to get them sooner and not have to wait to earn the right amount.

Each of these reaction videos also say that the devs said there is no one "meta" golden golf ball that everyone will use, or anything like that. They all have pros and cons...some have more spin, some have less. Some have more distance, some have less. So they aren't play to win and everyone probably won't be buying the exact same ball to get the best benefit for their game. And since MyPlayers will have skills and archetypes, some gear and golf balls will better suit certain players.

Couple other notes I’ve seen from videos today.

          - The pros DO have their own custom swings.
          - Splash shots can only be played out of bunkers now.

This got me thinking… do we think MJ/TW clothes/TW Clubs that are all part of the deluxe addition will be purchasable through the game with VC after a period of time?

Chipping has also been made more challenging...apparently the lob wedge chip, which had a 7 yard rollout in 2K21, now has a 25 yard rollout. This means that more touch and partial shots will be needed around the green.

Yes...on the bottom of the screen in tiny fine print in today's video, it says that the MJ pack will be available to purchase after launch if you didn't preorder.

I would think all these things will be available then, too.

Perfect! Great catch… I have no interest in any of the online stuff (outside of Divot Derby) but paying double for a few articles of TW’s clothing seems outrageous

I was really hoping these hands on opinions would be giving me reason to buy this game but it sure sounding that 2K have just moved a few sliders here & there to give the gameplay a slightly different feel.
With the enormous profits made from 2K21’s pandemic success I can’t believe how much this new game is costing….it’s almost robbery.

I do agree that charging the full $60 for a sports game on the last generation of consoles is kind of wild, and charging double that for a special digital version of the game with some cosmetic add-ons is bananas (even with dual gen entitlement).

Looking at other recent sports releases on PS4, seems it's still the way it is...which is kind of surprising as I haven't actually bought a new sports game since, well, PGA 2K21...I expected that this would be like $50 for the last-gen systems.

I wonder if the cost is the "Tiger Effect"...adding him, the playable pros, more courses, etc. required the prices to stay the the normal levels on last gen, and had them think of ways to sell versions of the game for well above the usual asking price, since I'd assume the licensing deals are higher this time around.

Either way, I also totally got a bit of sticker shock when seeing the MSRPs on these different versions of the game.

What I didn't see in any of the videos was both player's caddies being visible in the picture, only the caddie of whichever player was up. I also didn't see the other player(s) standing along side the tee box as the player who was up was hitting. I want to see both the other players in my group - when I should see them - along with their caddies. It's going to look kind of hokey to just have the player who's just hit AND their caddie suddenly disappear into the aether, as soon as the next player is 'up'.

These are all going to be cut scenes much like the one in the current game where you see your golfer walk the course after the shot. Would like to see a camera angle like Links where you see your approach shot from behind the pin as it nears the green.

I'd love to see that included in 2K23, at least as an option. I remember talking about having it in TGC2 and PGA 2019 with one of the devs. He said it would result in an undesirable camera movement, where the reverse looking camera might have to 'trolley' backwards to keep the ball in view. I told him that I see that happening in Perfect Golf occasionally when I have the reverse view selected. He said, "see, that's what we're trying to avoid." I came back with the fact that I didn't consider that to be an undesirable condition. It was enough for them to close the door on it though.

I will definitely be buying 2k23 as soon as the standard edition comes out. There will be plenty of feedback by then. What we have already is uniformly positive and I doubt whether that will change much. The main gripe seems to be the graphics but this is not an issue with me. They're good enough to be immersive. Playability is key for me and by all reports this is a bit better than before, which was already pretty good. Being last-gen also means it should play smoothly on my PC.

I have no confidence at all that the career mode will be anything but a pale shadow of what it might be, even with a couple of minor improvements like sudden death and imported courses. As OnlookerD says it will still have unrealistic AI stats even if the leaderboard glitch is fixed (hmm). But there should be enough in the game to keep me interested for a while, regardless of whether or not I get into the career mode.

The only time I've played a golf game for hundreds and hundreds of hours was Links and that was because it was all such a wonderful novelty back then - who cared about waiting 30 secs or more for screen draws! As things stand now, I see no prospect of the golf game of my dreams coming along any time soon, so I will take what I can get and be thankful for that - not so long ago it looked like video golf had dried up completely.

No way am I buying a $120 game. I enjoyed 2k21, but not enough for that price tag. Especially if the extra content is available at launch separately. You’re essentially paying an extra $60 to play the game early at that point, not really worth it it content creators will be getting the game a few days before that anyways. I’m good with the standard edition for now.

I think the part that's the most interesting is that if you want dual-gen entitlement to be able to play on PS4/Xbox One at first, and then potentially play the "next-gen" version on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S once you upgrade to one of those consoles, you are forced to buy at least the $99 version...dual entitlement only comes with the Deluxe Edition ($99) or the Tiger Woods Edition ($120).
