Yep, that course plays host to "The Legends Championship" - the 2K version of The Masters - in career mode. I saw it on the schedule in one of the other NextMaker's videos: https://youtu.be/Gzx7_MAYaYU

It was made by one of the community course design partners that 2K has.

Seriously there is no way I am not getting this game. As bad as I am the game will always be a challenge. That is one positive about getting to be an old MF.

I just watched this video from one of the top players in TGCTours, as he discusses which Skills he will use in the new game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yb3yZYD9XUA

As I am watching this, I am curious...are these Skills only related to the clubs they are included with in the row they appear? For example, at the 8:38 mark in that video, he comes across a skill called "Beach Bum", which is in the iron row.

That skill allows for a splash shot timing boost from the bunker. Does this mean that you get a boost when hitting splash shots from a bunker, but only when using an iron to hit the splash, since it's in the "Iron" row? Or is it for all splash shots, no matter what club you are using?

There were a couple other ones that are like this...there's a hybrid row skill that allows for a power boost on normal shots out of the bunker. Is that only with hybrids then?

The designer mentions that the interface has a "sleek new look" with efficient menus, new spline tools, and updated trees, bushes, and flowers.

Just looking at the course in the background, it looks quite nice...but also looks very similar to courses in 2K21. Not sure I saw a whole lot of different or new assets/objects used. The clubhouse is a stock one used in the last several iterations of the TGC/PGA 2K series.

The spline tools update has me the most intrigued. Being able to spline things like OB or fences would be great and save a ton of time. Looking forward to hearing more.

This whole skills boost thing seems a bit arcade like to me but as long as it doesn't allow for people to shoot mid 50's a la Tiger games I guess it's OK. Just seems like a coat of paint on 21 really but I do like the new golfer and swing animation on the full shots. The chipping animation does not look good though too jabby. 2k really can't get any more out of Unity and what they should do is make sure that shots hit into the rough on a fly stay in the rough regardless of the slope.
Does any one who works on this game actually play golf?
As far as the course designer goes 2k should allow creators the same assets as they use in their games. While U hear some of the next makers say the crowds look better well I gotta disagree there. They still look like zombies and most face the wrong way.

Fist pump and celebrations should only kick in on eagles birdies and extraordinary par and bogey saves. The cut scenes and the golfer picking the ball out of the hole are nice.

We used to ask that on the HB forum back in the TGC 1 & 2 days

They answer was definitely yes

I remember not being sure if I should be excited or disappointed, as so many things in game were always askew from how real golf works/should work

just thought i would post this to show some interesting images. Look at the difference in quality between the first and second courses, you really can get some wide range of quality in these 2k23 courses. That first course looks terrible compared to the second one. Just through in the TW13 image to compare. TW13 still looks good for a 10 year old game, right?

at this point, he hits this shot, it travels clean through the extra tall grass like it's not there. when have you ever seen grass so tall, taller than the golfer, all the way up to the tree branches. there is no effect hitting into objects in this game, except trees, even the gallery has no effect on the ball. EA will destroy this game in this area. this is completely unacceptable in 2022.

Mentioned that previously the collision detection is not good at all. House rules. Hit it sideways or backwards or take a 1 stroke penalty. Or channel Moe Norman.

EA golf games have always been really poor in this area, trees like brick walls in the TW games. Can't speak of giant blades of grass because EA always looked more realistic compared to the 2K games.

You have to make the grasses that tall in the 2K game to get them to show up from a distance.

If pressed, I’d honestly prefer that colliders are over done….as opposed to not being there at all.

The former at least forces a user to play courses as intended.
