I think what 23 also needs is much stronger licensing. Tiger is huge but those big courses are a huge thing it still needs.

I agree. Pebble Beach is a big course so they are clearly trying. Im curious what other courses they have tried to get, like St. Andrews.

Game will be a lot harder to score with these changes to the short game. No more cheesy chip ins and round the green flops. Real courses will be a nice addition but that was never the thing for me in this game. Tell me TPC at Madison Oaks doesn't look and play like a real life layout.

There are plenty of links courses in the United Kingdom that I'm sure are available (the other company dosen't own the rights to them all). The beauty with 2K's course creator (and the talent of those people) is that these courses and many others in the U.S. are brought to life that would never see the light of day in the other game. Now if it's a matter of 2K not wishing to pay the fees...

As someone who complained a good bit about the graphics, this is really encouraging, that does look really like a big improvement.

In 2k21 (and hopefully 2k23), did they ever implement and graphical control sliders to tweak the look?

That screenshot above shows a good example of something that's always plagued this graphics engine for me ... all the way back to TGC1

Many scenarios are just way too dark for me to enjoyably use

(and I don't want to be screwing with my TV/monitor settings for one single game)

Are there in game sliders to help adjust this for those of us who need/want it?

There are quite a few graphics settings you can adjust, including depth of field and bloom. But I'm not sure there are really sliders for brightness or anything like that, as far as I can recall. And I don't know if visual/graphic settings were different for PC and for consoles, either.

I do wish they'd let you adjust the lighting as you want when you play local rounds. Instead of just the generic time of day offerings they currently allow, like "Dawn", "Morning", or "Noon", why not let us adjust the time of day like you can in the course designer...actually setting the lighting at a specific time, like 7:15 or 21:00?

If you could do that, it would be one way where you could essentially adjust how bright the course looks when you play it.

I think this is a brilliant suggestion, and it sure doesn't seem like it would be that hard. It would be so good in so many ways, especially to let people who don't like the really dark shadowed shots (especially on greens, think TCP Boston or Riviera where at least half the putts and T shots are in the dark shady areas, with wild tree shadows blowing back and forth between you, the grid and your line), and also with allowing people to make quick in game adjustments to brightness and contrast per course, or even per shot, without messing with their TV or monitor settings.

This just seems like a no brainer.

                    I agree

Honestly, a key reason my older Uncle and I moved off of TGC way back when was because of the lighting situation. So many greens would be "in the shade" and super dark and then with the grid on... it looked like "space golf" or something... just darkness and a neon grid...

...ultimately my Uncle (who is in his mid 80's) just couldn't enjoy the lack of seeing what he was doing on too many courses and situations.

It wasn't the only reason we moved on, but it was a factor for sure.

Some settings to tweak this would make the title much more accessible

                      Very well stated.

The only guy I've played this game with that isn't a random 9 hole 1v1, is almost 70, very healthy and kicks my *** on the real golf course every time (routinely shoots high 70s to mid 80s, I'm 55 and still trying to get into the low 90s), his biggest gripe about when we play online is the shading and really dark shots where he can't see what's going on. To give him or any player the ability to pause, move some brightness/contrast sliders for a particular course, would greatly improve the game for him.

I'm hoping 2k/HB have heard about this issue and have made those shady dark corners of the greens and Tees a little more easy on the eyes.

what about the time of day adjustment? noon should have less shadows. because in that screenshot it's not noon.

                          A fair point.

IIRC, back when we stopped playing HB golf together, you didn't even have that choice. Does that sound right? I think you picked the course and the time of day/setup was determined by the designer and baked in.

Even with time of day adjustments, it'd still be nice to have some tweaks. We've played other golf games that just seemed to have some different gamma/brightness/contrast choices that still allowed better visibility even in areas in the shade.

I would love some sort of dynamic lighting in this game… if you are in the lead after 54 holes you should be teeing off around noon and not early in the morning. Different lighting scenarios would really make a big impact.

Sounds like a PGA 2K23 preview build is being given to some of the 2K NextMaker crowd...CrazyCanuck1985, TheApexxHound, Jim Gem, VctryLnSprts, etc. are all saying they have a early copy of the game and can release info and content about it "soon".

Although, I am seeing that the course creator is not something they can share as part of the preview or whatever, which is odd but typical...hype things up, but keep certain things under wraps.

With what chase said in the other thread, looks like some sort of embargo lifts for next week. Hopefully another country club report drops along with vids from these guys. Looking forward to see how these swings look.
