Still very much a last gen game that’s essentially a DLC pack for 2k21.

That’s fine if one already loved 2k21, but as you know I really didn’t …

Anyhow. Not here to go round and round.
Will let you guys enjoy and discuss unless I’m replied to specifically, etc.

I think graphics do look slightly better in many areas, lighting is a bit better I believe. Grass looks improved upon.

I believe the twitter video is too compressed to do it justice, it will be a beautiful game on next gen imo.

As with Madden every year, I’ll wait until I see unedited gameplay. Overall though, looks good. Not pre ordering until I see more. Weird way to do a reveal with only less than 30 seconds of actual game footage.

Even if it is compressed I want to see a 5 minute video with gameplay showing caddies on the tee and fairway/greens with non zombie crowds. This is not a day one purchase for me I already have HB's games save TGC1.

This is what I think. The game will look slightly better but no pot bunkers or proper green side bunker shot. The game looks OK now and I am playing on the PS4 on a fairly good 1080p television. They have a lot of work to do to impress me.

Re: PGA Tour 2K23 Releases on October 14 - Trailer and Video Interview

I think now that there's been time to process it, I am neither super impressed, nor am I entirely disappointed with what was shown today. In fact, it was about what I expected.

Sure, I wanted more info on specific changes to career, gameplay, designer, etc.

But I also remembered that 2K didn't share any gameplay footage of 2K21 until like a week or two before it released, and it was edited and awkward with the producers/devs playing it for IGN or something. We didn't get to see "raw" footage until content creators got to play the game a day or two before release!

So, like I said, this announcement was basically what I assumed would happen...lots of "hype", make sure Tiger is there, casual-focused, and not too forthcoming with a ton of details. The press release did have some detail in terms of pros, courses, brands, etc. So that was nice.

Consumable items...that has me a bit sad and worried, in terms of where DLC is headed. PGA 2K21 had a fair share of issues, but intrusive and "pay to win" DLC wasn't part of it. I am concerned here.

I'll wait to get too excited until more info comes out about all the changes to the important parts of the game. But 2K did meet my expectations with this info drop, which is both a good and bad thing...haha

The no pot bunkers thing is interesting, since The Renaissance Club is in the game as an official real-life course and has pot bunkers...so we shall see.

Ya, no real surprises here, other than 3 click (which I won't use), and it was very nice seeing caddie. I wonder if the caddies will just be visible for the pros on occasional shots, or if there is one beside your created player on each shot. My guess is it will be a pre-shot animation screen that will get very repetitive in a short time and most of us will just click past it to get to the shot.

I'm still left wondering about the most important things that I was hoping for:

              playoffs for ties?
              leaderboards fixed?
at least slightly better graphics, especially for created player faces and crowd animation?
what's the difference (performance and graphically) between the PS4 and PS5?

Nice to see they added some new courses and will be in the future, but honestly, every real course is out there in the created courses.

I'm definitely buying, but I really want to know the answers to the above issues. They are all that really matter to me, especially knowing it was going to still be on the Unity engine. No interest in playing as a pro (or Jordon lol).

It would be nice to know if we will see any of the pros in Career Mode other than those annoying cut scenes of them holing out.

Playing a local match with the pro of your choice would be pretty cool as well. That's the reason I play so much 9 hole match play online, because it's more fun to play against somebody than just playing alone against yourself. Ghosts are a waste of time and not accurate.

I am seeing some of the 2K "NextMaker" folks responding to people's tweets about getting more info on specific details about the course designer.

Seems like 2K has "embargos" set for when they allow the sharing of certain details of the game. NextMakers who are known for their course designs in PGA 2K21 are not yet able to share any details about the designer, but it does sound like they know details about it.

Again, this isn't surprising, but I wish 2K would allow sharing of more info in this area...the course creator is one of their trademark features that sets them apart from the competition.

As usual, 2K wants to keep some material for promos later, still 7 weeks before the game is released. Today was almost all about Tiger and his golf game. When did they release the stuff for course creators the last time? Thought it was close to release.

You create courses for the game. I imagine there is more available to the game designers than for guys like you. Hopefully they open up the entire suite this time around besides new houses and such.

Yep, exactly. It was very close to release...like, within a few weeks of release. CrazyCanuck1985's first look YouTube video of the 2K21 designer was published on Aug 6, 2020. PGA 2K21 released on Aug. 21, 2020.

Yeah, this is accurate. There are assets in the real-life courses in 2K21 that we never had access to.

But bunkers are a bit different. None of the real courses in 2K21 ever had pot bunkers or anything like that. Bunkers are separate from things like buildings and even nature objects. It will be interesting to see what happens with this in the game.

If somehow they were able to introduce pot bunkers... just about every users would be ecstatic.
