WOW...is that a major kick in the shins. It was reported to 2K Support multiple times by yours truly, and I'd assume by many others, given how much it was talked about. I mean, it was a discussion here on many occasions...
My favorite part of this is that the 2K Support canned response was that they'd "pass it along to the devs" or whatever, which is clearly a lie if this is the case.
This is a major issue, and the fact they "don't know about it" is very sad.

The leaderboard answer is concerning but since the issue was explained in depth and they said they aren't seeing it when they play, then I'm going to hold out hope that it has been fixed.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Perhaps the devs he spoke to do not work on career mode? IDK...everyone always talks about how they're a "small team"...I'd assume everyone would know about each area of the game.
This specific issue not being confirmed as addressed or heck, even known or "understood" is a blocker for me. Until I hear that the leaderboards have been addressed, specifically, it's gonna be a wait and see from me. That's a major, major problem that was clearly called out and seems to be just ignored, IMO.Orbis Non SuficitComment

A friend of mine has 2K21 on PS4, plays it on PS5, and says he's never seen the glitched leaderboard. I play on PS4, and have seen it maybe 5-10 times...I honestly stopped counting after several instances of it.
I guess, to me, that means just because people don't see it doesn't mean it isn't happening.
I hope it means it was fixed by someone else and the devs he spoke to just weren't working on that part of the game. But I don't know...Orbis Non SuficitComment

And it may very well be in 2K23. Like I said their answer is concerning.

I wish I had your patience and positive approach to it! haha
But seeing that it was reported in previous games, many times, and was never fixed...only to hear that they don't "understand" what was being asked by Chase, is not a big confidence instiller. I may not fret for 6 weeks...because I may not buy it.
And if it is in 2K23, it sure doesn't seem like they'd fix it even after launch...since it would be the 3rd game in a row of theirs that had some kind of issue like this.Orbis Non SuficitComment

If its in 2K23 then I'll decide how to deal with it at that point. Right now, there's nothing I can do about it.
So for now, I'll focus on what I/we do know and find out the rest either as more information is released or once I play the game myself, and then I'll deal with any issues that may arise then.

I will be buying on day one as well but to find out that we may still have basically meaningless leaderboards is a gut punch. How could they not be aware of it, it's the most commented on thing I've seen here and on other boards.Comment

That's the big concern...the "not aware of it" part. It would be one thing to say that it's something they're working on or whatever. But to not even know what it meant, and needing it explained to them? After we all know for sure that it's been reported thru the 2K Support channels?

I never understood why developers of golf games never decide to include a virtual CPU/AI opponents when golfing. Even if it's only for the final day in the final pair of a tournament. Watching my opponent miss/make, as we get to the last hole is what I'm looking for and would be great in My career. Seems like a huge oversight in my opinion.GT Agent August

Part of it is licensing...it would always have to be someone who's a licensed pro in the game, so it would be limited.
I also assume it's an issue with programming how it would look. And in the 2K series, pros have only been in one iteration so far. So they are still very new to the pros-in-the-game thing.
Back in the old TW games, pros couldn't be shown in-round due to licensing issues - see here: https://kotaku.com/at-last-tiger-woo...ath-to-5980708.
"While Tiger Woods PGA Tour career events feature a full leaderboard stocked with recognizable, real-world names, the vast majority of these golfers do not appear in the game. There are only two dozen or so real-world pros you may play as or against. There is no group license for the likenesses of all the PGA Tour golfers, as there is in the NHL or NBA, and a name on a leaderboard only is the limit of fair use.
So a playoff can't show you your opponent unless he's licensed to appear in the game. "We looked into having players represented by shot arcs," said Sean Wilson, the game's producer, "but simulating arcs, even, is a licensing issue. Technically, [showing just the trajectory of a shot] would be considered a part of their likeness.""
In TW14, it was just a score shown at the end of the hole and not a shot-by-shot for this very reason. Seems like it's a whole host of issues that keeps it from happening.Orbis Non SuficitComment
