Re: PGA Tour 2K23 - Answering OS Community Questions
Watching a CrazyCanuck Q&A stream on Twitch...he's reading the OS community questions, too, and adding in more info...
- Tiger was not mo-capped, but some players were
- he's had the course creator since March...
- he said it's "easier" to build courses
- no flyovers on console, as far as he could tell
- putting was the same as 2K21...felt similar anyway
- green grids looked similar, too
- difficulty settings were identical to 2K21
- sounds like caddies may be just visual...
- John is still the casual round announcer
- 3-click would be his preferred method of playing the game...it's more precise. Some will love it, some will hate it
- he does not think that MyPlayers can have custom swings...there's just one default one
- he thinks that "view courses by designer" is back, but might be console/system specific (ex - if you're on PS4, playing a PC player's course, it wouldn't show their courses, but if you're on PS4 playing a PS4 designer's course, you'd see their list of created courses)
- there will not be the ability to have multiple golf bags/loadouts...you just get the one bag, as it was in 2K21
- he has an overall positive impression of the game at this point
The most interesting thing is...he's not sure he agrees with the answer the dev gave Chase about customizable career mode schedules. He said he asked Shaun West, the lead producer, the same exact question, and got a "no comment"...and his impression was that customizable schedules were NOT in. So...who knows?Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 08-24-2022, 08:48 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

No custom schedule after all? That’d put a damper on my view of the game.

As for the custom schedules, I mean what was said to me was said. No comment is not no, and I don't think we were speaking in hypotheticals about it.
I did also want to mention they do have a lot of love for TGC Tours but there's no new implementation there to bring it into the game itself this year. That was also in my notes that I have not put anywhere as of now.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K23 - Answering OS Community Questions
Whoops, I did get the answer to that one, it was in my notes and just forgot to post it. But yes, can also confirm I got that response about not having access to multiple bags.

CrazyCanuck basically said that he didn't think custom schedules were in, based on the answer he got. So it was just some conflicting reports and it seemed a bit strange.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 08-24-2022, 09:51 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: PGA Tour 2K23 - Answering OS Community Questions
To be fair, customizable schedule can mean a few things.
It could mean changing events and customizing them to the schedule you want (manipulating the schedule of events they have set).
Or it could just mean customizing the course for some events.
If I'm not mistaken, the majority of us only care about the latter so that very well could be a non issue.Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K23 - Answering OS Community Questions
I'm sure there are some specifics about this scheduling that I could have gotten wrong, or more specifics that need to be known, but I'm comfortable with what I heard in terms of it being in the game in some capacity (specifically swapping out courses when it's not real events).I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: PGA Tour 2K23 - Answering OS Community Questions
I think the tricky thing is technically a lot of what we're talking about is not what 2K/HB are ready to talk about. And no, I wasn't trying to imply anyone was lying either so we're all good there. But yeah, maybe it's one of those things where we were talking about something and he let it slip when he shouldn't have and sort of decided to not go that route again etc.

Re: PGA Tour 2K23 - Answering OS Community Questions
Their routine has been to market relentlessly and go fast and loose on many specifics....and "launch"
Once the money is procured, it's too late for a consumer to make an informed decision.
Sorry for the tone -- I just am irritated with how they do some of this
"Developers didn't really understand what I was asking about (scoreboard issues)"
Give me a break...Last edited by scagwi; 08-24-2022, 09:56 PM.Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K23 - Answering OS Community Questions
And just for the sake of clarity, this is exactly what was said about custom schedules in career mode...he does say the producer didn't say no, but he did say he worried the answer in OS wasn't accurate:

We don't have to buy upfront. We can wait until release to see how it is.
We can be irritated but we also control that. If we aren't sold up front we just hold off until after release to make our decision.
Marketing isn't going to change.Comment

Yeah, he's mostly known for his course designs/tutorials about the game. And yeah, he is part of the NextMaker program.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Eh - this is something we can control.

But they know what they're doing by being cagey and fast and loose on things that won't show well..
It's all about getting mega preorders and the most juice right out of the gate
I'm sure many do it - doesn't mean I should like it though.
And the developers not knowing about the scoreboard thing?
I'm sorry - but we'd have to believe they are pretty dumb and uninformed to believe that to be true.
They are neitherLast edited by scagwi; 08-24-2022, 10:03 PM.Comment
