I consider myself a below average player and I have never used the marker for shots or putts. This year feel is more important than ever. I wouldn't rely on the marker.

I don't play with meter on but I've noticed what you are talking about. I felt it was like this in 2K21 too. It is counterintuitive. You would think you have to hit it harder out of the fringe but it actually seems to go further out of the fringe.

Yeah, this is true. It was a thing in 2K21 as well. And in 2K21, it made sense to chip everything anyway because it was automatic.

Sure, there's a "free" version, but it includes next to nothing of value.

There are a bunch of the arcade-style consumable balls in the premium pass, as well as XP boosts which allow you to level up and get skills quicker, so paying for the premium pass gives you more of an advantage. Just kind of gross.

I wish it were just cosmetics if this is gonna be the case...instead, it's a clear pay-to-win scenario...you have to pay actual cash to get the premium pass which includes "legendary" golf balls and XP boosts.
Well if it makes you feel any better the Premium and Premium+ pass on PC do not work, at least not for me.

Got a quick MyCareer tourney done over lunch (I play two round events), and I switched my archetype to "Rhythm" from "Powerhouse" before the event. It was like changing the game to "Easy" mode or something. Tempo was easy to achieve, and I only lost maybe 5-10 yards of distance. So it wasn't detrimental at all, losing the power that the "Powerhouse" build offered.

I am not using any consumable golf balls or fittings, and do have some skills in play. But man, it sure seems like "Rhythm" is the way to go in terms of getting consistent good tempo.

I ended up winning the event, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, shooting a 62 in the final round.

^Yep, Respawn recommended Rhythm as well.

Im on greensman right now. Like it so far.

Good balance between the rhythm and powerhouse archetypes for full swing and I play with no green grid so the putting help is nice. Iron and wedge play are probably my weakest points so SP's are going there primarily.

Starting to get a feel for short game after some more practice. I have shot feedback on right now so I've started to get down my reference points for certain percentages.

                    For LW chips for instance...

90%= hands right below waist high
                    80-85%= Club parallel with ground
                    70%= Club at knee height

Nice to see balls hanging in heavy rough instead of bounding back into the fairway. I see it but not nearly as much.

The game does not support cross-play, yet. It will at some point.

Cross progression needs to happen too

It's really, really great that there are three licensed female golfers in PGA Tour 2K23 (there honestly should be more)...but Lydia Ko just won the "Legends Championship" major - AKA The Masters - in my first season in career mode. She now sits second in the FedExCup Standings, behind only Colin Morikawa and immediately ahead of Tiger Woods.

Just seems...off. I wish they'd have the full LPGA license so that professional golf, both men's and women's, could be presented faithfully. This just seems strange and isn't helping with immersion.

With all the debate about who should compete against who and such in the news I say just throw everyone in one big pot and have at it.
