More than willing to go with that till I see it. Hopefully they show console game play footage at 30 and not PC footage at 60. Some think the swing looked slow because it was shown at 30. If it comes out that way it would be disappointing. But we'll see.

Who knows, but they keep using Madden to try to sell this game, so...
That's honestly one of the more concerning/odd things about this golf game. Why is Madden a part of this? Just kind of strange.Comment

Here's a very good You Tube video built around Operation Sports excellent interview with designer Craig Penner (the subject of this thread). It has very high production qualities and the narrator's thoughts on the frame rate capping at 30 FPS makes my thoughts on it seem upbeatHe calls it a "deal breaker", and he will be playing it on a PC instead.
There's a lot of good analysis in the video and I highly recommend it:

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Interview with Development Team - It's All About Gameplay
This is as a pre-order bonus for a brand new golf game (with Augusta and the Masters and such), and the bonus is a game that's cycle is basically over (is anyone without Madden at this point feeling really excited about playing it in March?) and is already "free" to those who have EA Play.
It's just odd that Madden is being used as a way to sell the golf game before it even comes out, I guess.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 02-10-2023, 03:55 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

I don't know that I would view it as using Madden to try to sell the golf game. I think its more of EA trying to gain a "new" customer base for Madden due to the issues the game is having and the fact that Madden is losing some of its customer base due to these issues.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

On the plus side, I feel like they have to address the 30fps now after seeing the backlash. Just hope the game doesn’t get delayed again in the process. Kind of amazing how much traction this interview has gotten. The only thing that I don’t get is what different in hardware does the pc offer that ps5 doesn’t, that can make the game run at 60fps?Last edited by jbd345; 02-10-2023, 04:00 PM.Comment

I know this gets poo poo'd by folks, but FPS really is something that are hard to come down on once you get used to higher/faster.
Like, for me, the smoothness at which I move the aiming arrow around to predetermine shot power for each full 100% analog swing will be very impacted by the FPSLast edited by scagwi; 02-10-2023, 04:05 PM.Comment

I just find it odd for them to be offering a football game in March as a pre-order bonus for a golf game - especially a football game that's been heavily criticized and is apparently causing people to leave the consumer base in the first place.
The real cynic in me thinks it's just another way for them to get more people into plugging more real money into MUT...Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 02-10-2023, 04:13 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Assuming the game is only running in normal HD (1080P), that's why it's questionable. 60FPS at that resolution shouldn't be overly difficult for a PS5 unless there are optimization issues on a game like this. Unless maybe there's a bottleneck somewhere else in the architecture.Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Interview with Development Team - It's All About Gameplay
There has to be some way the PS5/XBSX can run this thing at 60fps, even if it's by going down to 1440p (which would still look amazing, I'm positive)

I'd gladly still play Links 2003 if the resolution was higher. Even though it's like playing golf on a postcard and the backgrounds are completely static. I don't know about the framerates or smoothness of the animations, but I think EA is going for more for a 4k photorealistic look.Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Interview with Development Team - It's All About Gameplay
you console guys should expect 30fps, don't believe Microsoft and Sony's 60fps hype. development studios sell more copies the better they look, so they will push the consoles beyond it's limits, forever. PS7 will still get 30fps by year 2 of its lifecycle.Comment
